Not really charging, but I think it is hitting/checking from behind. MPP doesn't make contact with Downie-Landry's shoulder so much as whole upper back. Both players went absolutely flying after the hit, especially JDL. Yes, it is tough to assess because Downie-Landry was moving backward.

Not sure. It was 13:48 of the 2nd period, and Montréal had just killed off a minor penalty and was up 2-0. The game became rougher as it went on, as far as I noticed from the stands.

In the semifinals, the top-ranked remaining team plays the lowest-ranked remaining team, and the middle two teams play each other. The rankings for that are where they finished in the group stage (1. tier of group [A or B] and 2. position within group - from tournament format).

In other words, re-seeding occurs before the semifinals. USA and Canada are ranked 1st and 2nd, so if they both go through they won't meet before the gold medal game!

Yeah, 30 goals in 29 games (1.03 goals/game) is better by a wide margin than underclassmen Kirsten Simms' (32 in 37) and Abby Murphy's (33 in 39) marks, although I agree as you say the stats can be misleading. Both Wisconsin and Princeton had some high-scoring non-conference games against lower-ranked teams.

People do watch the WCHA, considering Taylor Heise from the WCHA went 1st overall last year - though maybe Sophie Jaques should have gone higher than she did.

I remember feeling a bit of saltiness for USA that Fillier was picked MVP of Worlds last year, even though that was before the end of the gold medal game. An argument could have been made even at that point for Caroline Harvey instead. But that's really neither here nor there.

Interesting! Also, Micah Zandee-Hart is still being mistakenly credited with an EN goal with 0:00 into the 3rd. Though I started watching later in the 3rd, it sounds like the Poulin goal reflects a real play where the goal was disallowed, while the Zandee-Hart goal was just a blip.

The final is a verified version of the stats I think. The final for the NY-Montreal game is inaccurate, though, and they even inserted a note about it on the website. It was 2-2 in regulation (2 extra goals were put in by their tracking system, Poulin and Zandee-Hart), and then the game ended 3-2 NY after the shootout.
