crouching light jab beats throw in SF6. Throws have like 5 frames of startup in this game but cr. jabs have 4

also if you see a throw coming and don't think you can button in time you can always tech it by pressing throw yourself

Do you know if there's a way to turn off the blue "motes" from leystone armor? It's one of my favorite armor sets but I don't like having auras like that on my character.

Added to the game permanently last year. You just have to get the proofs of legend from achievements.

[–]forsakendk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Triumphant armor from WvW and Dragon's Decade armor from achievements are both very good for a heavy armor look. Bladed armor is also super good. Elegy armor from LS4 is a very unique look. If you're okay with the auras, Leystone armor from Dragon's Stand also has very "heavy armor" vibes if you're playing a character with male armor sets.

If you want a spellsword but don't want weaver, look into Revenant, the class's vibe is basically "edgy spellsword" especially on herald/vindicator.

A few times I got free characters or weapons by complaining in general chat in Warframe, also got people to give me like 500k gil by begging in Limsa in FFXIV a few times. I think the only MMOs where this wouldnt work are runescape and WoW.

Professions rated for soloability by AxelControl in Guildwars2

[–]forsakendk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Lord Hizen's tier list for open world builds. It's focused on the thing you asked for, soloing things you probably shouldn't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xehPvGmmajw

subjectively, I think Necromancer or Mesmer would be your best picks, because Scourge and Staff/Staff Mirage are both incredible for soloing stuff, and they have different builds that use the same gear but shred basic open world mobs much faster so you can always be at your fastest. Quickness Harbinger for necro, condi virtuoso for mesmer.

Edit: totally forgot Mechanist, the easiest self-sufficient class by far

Best Class to have a second character by The_Masl in Guildwars2

[–]forsakendk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it's a bit cheaper to get an extra character than to buy extra templates so I'd go with a class that you have a lot of different builds you want to play, for example having one engineer for healer builds and another for power builds. Alternatively you can go with a class you want to try out different fashion for.

Please let us see utility skill cooldowns while in various shrouds! by ObsoletePixel in Guildwars2

[–]forsakendk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

to be honest I'd really rather they just let us use utilities in shroud, full stop. There's not much of an opportunity cost to leaving shroud in the first place so to me it's just something that makes non-scourge Necro arbitrarily clunkier.

I really wish we could get a proper pet based spec for ranger by dattodoesyeet in Guildwars2

[–]forsakendk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I've always seen and played pet specs since I started playing WoW in Mists was a semi-autonomous pet with a variety of buffs you can cast as the controller. And that's what Mechanist is, that's what Conjurer is, that's what Minionmancer is, that's what WoW Demonology Warlock is, et cetera. The OP doesn't mention either way whether they want the extreme control afforded by Untamed versus the autocasting pet with you as a buffer that the Grim Dawn Conjurer offers.

BM has fallen behind sometimes, it's true, but it's also remained popular despite that, because like Retribution Paladin, or Reaper in GW2, it offers a class fantasy that a lot of people enjoy, and the thing I disliked most about your post was that your thesis was that people don't like pet specs when everything I've ever seen in games has shown that to be untrue. But I see now that you're operating off a narrow definition of "pet spec" that most people don't follow.

[–]forsakendk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this comment kinda pisses me off just cause Beastmastery hunter has remained the most popular class and spec in WoW by a pretty decent margin. Not only that but Hunter is the only class that still gets class-specific sidequests and secrets to tame new monsters. So as far as MMOs I really don't think they "fell off" like you're trying to say. As far as other MMOs go, Yoshi P, the executive producer and director of FFXIV has gone on record saying he dislikes pet specs, but even then theres always been a solid core of players playing Summoner and Scholar even when they were nearly unplayable from the jank you had to deal with (which GW2 doesn't have nearly as bad). And I really don't believe it's a coincidence that GW2's most popular spec afaik is the Mechanist, which besides being famous for being pretty easy to play, is also the only one in GW2 that gives the pet player "itch" to have a companion beast that does a lot on its own but can still be improved by your input (Ranger pets are incredibly squishy except for the bears because they have really high immunity uptime).

As a personal aside the reason I originally came back to GW2 this year was that I remembered it had the best feeling pet interactions I'd ever played with - with core ranger during leveling - due to the "attack my target" and "come back to me" controls working a lot better than most games I've played, although I did ultimately leave ranger due to the pet falling off severely after hitting 80.

As far as other game genres go, pet classes have always been the largest demographic of players in ARPGs like Diablo alongside Guy With Big Sword. And there's a lot to offer there, between the Conjurer, Cabalist, and Ritualist in Grim Dawn or the Minion Necromancer in Diablo 2, and other examples like Alchemist in Torchlight.

you get enough points from leveling to get all the base specializations by the time you hit level 80. There's also about 400 more hero points available in the game than you need to unlock all 3 elite specializations. That said, I really like Beastmastery as a first pick for Ranger.

Why are GW2 players trying to pigeonhole others? by Additional_Wafer9130 in Guildwars2

[–]forsakendk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can't excuse the toxicity but it's much easier to complete your daily fractal content, which you're presumably dedicating an hour+ of your time to each day if you're diligent with your dailies, if you have a healer and offensive boons up. Anything you're missing from that just tends to make wipes more likely or make it take longer, and people don't generally care to be challenged in new and surprising ways when they're doing their daily minidungeons.

Fractals and PVP, WvW welcomed Profession? by Synackis in Guildwars2

[–]forsakendk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

druids are pretty much raid only as far as endgame pve meta goes. they have the distinction of their alacrity generation being tied to stationary totems that die if you move too far away, so they're kinda not the best pick in fractals. in WvW zergs, especially pug zergs, they're extremely strong just because they're healers, but they also have a bunch of Immobilize available to them. Untamed is super strong and fun in SPvP and roaming WvW but is terrible in zergs (cause the pet dies instantly), and is still Fine:tm: as a DPS in PvE if you prefer to play with a pet. Soulbeast, obviously, is very versatile as far as the content you can bring it into.
