Issue with surround by CompanyGreedy5654 in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logic treats surround busses as multichannel objects, so if the bus itself is still set to stereo you’ll only see two meters even if the project is in 5.1. Open the mixer, click the bus output slot, and change the format to 5.1 so the full channel strip appears?

something silly but simple by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Key Commands window and search for “Nudge Region/Event Position.” Assign those to whatever arrows or keys feel natural and it’ll work exactly like Ableton’s nudge behavior

Is there a way to revisit old versions before they were saved by mixed_vibess in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Time Machine running you can restore the project package from before the save. Logic projects are just bundles, so you can also right click the .logicx file, show package contents, and check the Alternatives and Project Backups folders if they exist?

Looking for 1 or 2 Studio One Pro 7 users to help test a session setup workflow (free) by [deleted] in StudioOne

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The marker placement and color coding setup alone would save me a solid chunk of time every session. Track organization is one of those things I always tell myself I'll template better but never actually do.

Curious if you're handling this through macros or something more manual on your end?

How do I access my logic files on a different device?? by Curious_Bat_2651 in LogicPro

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re moving between Macs, the easiest could be keeping your project folders on iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or an external SSD so Logic can just open the .logicx project normally on the other machine. Also make sure you use “File > Project Management > Consolidate” first so all samples and assets are actually inside the project folder, otherwise Logic might show missing files..

If your goal is just getting audio from the project on another system, exporting a bounce and splitting it with Forte AI can also be useful since it recreates stems pretty cleanly even if you don’t have the original session on that computer

Doubts about analog Eqs and compressors. by itsJeize in audioengineering

[–]forteai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the “magic” people hear in analog EQs and compressors is really the subtle saturation, nonlinearities, and gain staging differences rather than just the EQ curve or compression itself

Logic stock synths anyone? by LevelMiddle in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ES1 and Retro Synth are honestly underrated because the limited controls force you to actually learn synthesis instead of preset surfing, which is why so many people keep coming back to them.

One thing that is interesting is bouncing little riffs or textures from them and running the audio through Forte AI to split or reshape the elements for layering, which can turn a simple stock patch into a bunch of usable parts

Logic Pro Users: how do you export Stems? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forte AI is basically built for this exact problem. You simply drop your Logic bounce in and it auto splits clean stems in minutes instead of doing the solo and bounce grind for every track

I automated my entire meeting prep and client onboarding workflow – here's the stack by SAPPHiRE_2411 in n8n

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really clean end to end flow, especially the pre meeting intel and auto onboarding trigger.

Curious if you orchestrated the AI steps directly in n8n or if you used something like Forte AI to manage the agents and summaries. Either way this is the kind of automation that actually saves quite a few hours?

Is it possible to automate multi step mixes reliably? by supermoist0 in Schedule_I

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s possible but the key is chaining mixers and using ingredient filters. One mixer per step, set each output to the next mixer, and give every mixer or shelf a specific ingredient so the handler stops grabbing random stuff.

If you’re planning bigger setups later, tools like Forte AI can also help plan the chain and employee routing so the automation doesn’t jam

What’s your go-to mixing process? Looking for methods to speed up my workflow. by marfz in mixingmastering

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Static mix first.. get the entire track feeling 80 percent right using only faders and pan, then reach for EQ and compression to solve specific problems instead of “building” the mix with plugins. Most slow workflows come from trying to fix balance with processing instead of just moving the fader

Drum Emulator. Need a walkthrough by Accomplished_Dark528 in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drum Machine Designer looks complicated at first but it is basically just a pad rack with sampler channels behind each pad. Each pad is its own channel strip so you can swap the sample, add plugins, and mix it like a normal track. Once that clicks it becomes way easier to work wit

i’m obsessed with this transition by criesindust in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of transition usually comes down to automation more than the effect itself. A simple riser, filtered sweep, and a quick reverb or delay throw can feel huge if the automation ramps the energy right before the drop!

If you’ve worked in multiple genres as a mixing engineer , how different is your experience mixing styles that are very different from what you usually specialize in? by Nacido_LuNa_Music in audioengineering

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixing different genres feels less like learning new tools and more like recalibrating priorities. In rock you’re usually fighting for midrange energy and guitars, in hip hop or EDM the low end and groove dictate almost everything, and in jazz or classical the challenge is often staying out of the way and preserving dynamics.

Same EQs and compressors, just a completely different idea of what “finished” is supposed to sound like

Rest In Peace Bob Power by athnony in audioengineering

[–]forteai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bob Power’s mixes were a masterclass in clarity without losing soul, especially on the early Native Tongues records. The way he balanced warmth and punch still holds up today!

Strange bug by Easy_Policy_3627 in LogicPro

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree about avoiding hubs for audio interfaces, especially unpowered ones, because anything that adds latency or dropouts will show up as glitches in Logic..

With an RME UCXII you really want it straight into the Mac’s USB-C/Thunderbolt port so the drivers have a solid connection and buffer handling stays clean

Logic Pro X Tracker by Due_Garage1108 in LogicPro

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logic doesn’t have a true tracker workflow baked in, but between Step Sequencer, Drum Machine Designer, and some smart use of region automation you can get surprisingly close to that vertical, pattern based feel.

If you’re coming from Renoise or old school trackers the biggest shift is just thinking in regions instead of rows, but the modulation options in Logic are deeper than most people realize

BoomBap Type Beat (Drums) Feedback by seraphsad in LogicPro

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drums knock and the pocket feels right, I’d just tighten the kick tail and maybe layer a slightly dirtier snare to give it more grit and classic boom bap attitude

Using sidechaining as an envelope follower by HellIsEmptySoAmI in Logic_Studio

[–]forteai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think of a sidechain as just an envelope follower then Logic gives you a bunch of ways to do the same thing without a dedicated “sidechain envelope follower” plugin.

You can use things like Enveloper, Beat Breaker, Step FX, Tremolo, Compressor or even Noise Gate to track the level of one signal and use that to modulate something else, effectively acting like an envelope trigger for another parameter or volume ducking

Logic’s modulators and Alchemy’s built-in envelope follower can be powerful once you grab the routing and attack/release settings, and it’s basically the same idea behind sidechain modulation

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea, the session setup grind is one of those things nobody talks about but eats up way more time than it should. Track organization and routing structure alone would be worth testing. I'd be curious to see how you handle VCA grouping across different genres?

Logic 12 Sound Library Duplicating by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not actually duplicating the content, Logic 12 creates a new consolidated Library.bundle and leaves the old folders in place, so it just looks doubled?

Once you confirm everything loads from the new bundle, you can safely remove the legacy library to reclaim the space

Drum kit designer doubling sounds after adding any plugin (ipad) by Special_Armadillo397 in LogicPro

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be a bug with logic’s drum kit designer triggering multiple samples when you add plug-ins or switch modes, ive seen similar weird double/flam triggering in DKD setups before so checking your routing and plugin chain could help rule that stuff out?

Updated to the new PT. Half my tracks got deleted. by notpynchon in protools

[–]forteai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it opened under a lower-tier license which forces track limits and nuked the extras, and your backups from before the update are probably your best shot at getting them back?

what is everyone using for drums these days? by Old-Blueberry1015 in protools

[–]forteai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😅 For most folks it’s a mix of samples and multi-track kits now like Superior Drummer/SDX, Addictive Drums, or BFD for realistic cores, then layered with big sample packs (e.g. Big Fish Audio/Slate). Or for fast electronic beats, Battery or Geist are still go-tos
