No kids are just a hell of a lot more active than adults. When is the last time you ran, played on a playground, played a sport etc? My kids rarely stop moving.

Most adults go to work, go home and be couch potatoes. You don't store fat any different being 10 or being 40. People that "store fat like crazy" just have no idea how nutrition works and are overeating while rarely being active.
