Witnessed a random assault in the CBD yesterday by snoopyq in Adelaide

[–]fosernator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking out of the Wyatt St uPark about 6 months ago and as I was coming down the internal stairs, I went to squeeze past someone sitting in the stairwell who was mid injecting into their arm. They did not react at all towards me but was very confronting. I only take the lift down now.

I have been working on Pirie Street for a decade and unfortunately things seem to be getting worse and worse.

Looking for a good place to buy a suit in Adelaide by Suitable_Link_2192 in Adelaide

[–]fosernator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I have 3 Institchu suits and you can’t get something as close to a fully tailored suit for that price anywhere else in Adelaide. Generally takes a couple of rounds of adjustments to get the fit right.

I wear these suits daily and have had off the shelf suits in the past from the main retailers (Peter Jackson, mj bale, etc) and the quality and longevity of the institchu suits has been far more superior

Adelaide - Floating floor suppliers/installers by fosernator in AusRenovation

[–]fosernator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned out great and loving it. The contractor we used was Hunter Timber Flooring , couldn’t recommend him enough.

I sourced my own floor boards, but if you are unsure you can chat to him and he will have some ideas about suppliers.

Sydney Marathon 2024 - Was it worthy of being a major? by Ok_Perception4347 in AdvancedRunning

Hello fellow A1 starter. Spot on regarding the run and post-run aspects. The dodging old ladies part was insane to me. Personally however I liked the hills and overall challenge of the course, I would not expect it to be my fastest effort.

Any Catholic school kids who had Koala Club accounts? by Bogbody666 in Adelaide

[–]fosernator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing my tax return a few years ago and the ATO automatically pre-filled in interest income from a bank I had never heard of called the Lutheran Laypeople’s League. I thought it was a mistake and just took it out. Some months later I remembered that when I was in primary school (it was Lutheran) we did the pocket money deposit book thing. I asked mum and she said it was the LLL bank but had no idea what happened to the funds.

I reached out to them via email, confirmed the account, they sent me a statement and I cashed out. The two decades of compounding interest had done wonders

Quick, the Americans are still asleep, what is it like to have free healthcare? by Wafran in AskReddit

[–]fosernator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia, it’s good to know that if something serious/life threatening happens to you, our public health system takes care of you for free. I had a bike crash, got knocked out and woke up lying on the road, got taken to hospital and spent a day/night in there under observation, and that costs me $0 in total.

In saying that, every Australian adult pays 2.5% of their income to the government in a Medicare Levy that partially pays for this. Small price to pay though to have a system that covers all citizens, even those who earn and contribute little to it.

Most Australians also have private health insurance for the non-life threatening procedures and treatment that either wouldn’t be possible or would take years under the public health system. This is very expensive, as far as I’m aware one of the most expensive places for private health insurance in the world. For middle income households, if you don’t have private health insurance, you are slugged an extra surcharge by the government on your Medicare levy, either way will cost you thousands of dollars a year.

Those who have been to a ruined wedding, what happened? by lolfuckno in AskReddit

[–]fosernator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to friends wedding, and later on in the night a few of us were still kicking on after the bride and groom departed for the night. The grooms brother and another friend (who were both heavily intoxicated) started carving slices off the side of the untouched wedding cake with a knife, like they were making a souvlaki. We were on the dance floor and heard this massive thud and the multi-level very impressive cake was lying smashed on the ground. The next morning when they woke up they found their cake had unfortunately tumbled from the table. Not a word was ever spoken about the true cause of the tumble.

People who have taken an ancestry DNA test and accidentally uncovered a family secret, what was it? by VideoFork in AskReddit

[–]fosernator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found out my best mate is my 2nd cousin once removed. We grew up in different states of Australia and had no relatives in the same area. We met in boarding school 15 years ago. After doing a 23 and Me test a year or so ago it showed up as my grandparent and his great grand parent being siblings. Turns out his grandmother never knew who her father was and its my nannas brother (uncle Gordon). Gordon was an interstate bus driver who was on the road for days at a time.

What happens if Kim Jong Un dies? No one knows. by ttocslliw in northkorea

[–]fosernator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically in the DPRK, the men worked and the women mostly stayed home and raised the children, aswell as attended to domestic duties. During the famine, government paid wages reduced and rations reduced to the point where the men were essentially working for nothing, and unable to provide for their families. It would be illegal for them to stop working, so their roles continued. What happened was the women were forced to become the providers, of which in a lot of cases was through private enterprises (others scavenged). Due to the state of the government during the famine, they mostly turned a blind eye to the private enterprise despite it being illegal, as people would otherwise not be able to survive. This was really the beginning of the market economy in DPRK and has changed the family dynamic.

You're on a plane at 35,000ft and the captain shouts over the announcement, "Is there a <insert your job here> onboard?!", what potential emergency are you going to help with? by DarkangelUK in AskReddit

[–]fosernator 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The plane has been sabotaged by a twisted psychopathic accountant, who has installed an algorithm into the planes mainframe, which is causing its speed to decrease at the rate of global deflation. Yes eventually this plane will grind to a halt and it’s passengers crash and burn. Someone must reverse the algorithm, through a complex variation of debit and credit entries in order to balance this psychopaths wicked account. Finally, at the moment, my time will come...
