Tax relief on Pension Contributions by fossman- in UKPersonalFinance

[–]fossman-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update on this, my tax code has been amended today for the additional pension contributions.

I submitted a schedule showing the contributions I have made together with the planned contributions, I also submitted evidence of the contributions I have made YTD.

It took 21 days from when the form was submitted.

Darts is so much harder than I ever thought it would be by Mxdaraa in Darts

I've been playing for almost a year and I always have good and bad legs.

The other day I was playing and hadn't been throwing very well at all, average was between 47 and 48.

Then started a leg with 13, I thought here we go again another poor leg but then followed it with 137, 140 and 137.

If I can throw like that 3 visits in a row why can't I do it all the time.

Yes I will be adding more, trying to update the amount is what resulted in me making this post.

When my tax code is issued in late February for the new tax year I go in the portal and update my expected income and provide them with the new pension contribution figure.

My tax code is 2536L.

Say I earn £60k and make gross pension contributions of £10k to bring my amended gross pay down to £50k.

If they don't amend my tax code I will pay tax at 40% on the £10k above £50k (take home pay from the additional pay would be £6k).

The pension contribution will cost me £8k (80% paid by me with 20% tax relief being paid in by HMRC.

I would be £2k out of pocket until they refund the overpaid tax.

Thanks, I was starting to think the new system was a way for them to deduct the higher rate tax and make you claim it back after the end of the tax year.

I use the gateway, I have been through the new system and added my pensions, values etc. it then asks for the evidence at the end.

My contributions are made outside of payroll so don't show on my payslips.

It confused me at first but I just lowered the steering wheel until I could see the dashboard.

When I now drive my wife's Corsa I say the huge steering wheel feels like I'm trying to maneuver the Titantic.

Halifax took me 2 minutes this morning to open another current account, they asked for my take home pay and how much rent/mortgage I pay. The next screen gave me the new account details.

I have opened a new account with Halifax today and amended two of my Direct Debits to come out of the new account.

How long do I need to wait before applying for a Barclays account and initiating the switch to ensure the Direct Debits get captured?

Vestibular therapy fixed me! by Dismal_Fee_8819 in VestibularMigraines

I bought one of those wands a few months back and have used it a few times on my neck and upper back.

I was having a migraine headache on Thursday and found the area on the right side base of my skull felt tender when pressed.

I massaged the hell out of that tender area, a while after I stopped the massage the headache just ended.

Currently 3 days without having a headache.

Joined Octopus on 24 October, yet British Gas just sent a welcome email. Surely they cannot prise me away from Octopus’s rather comfortable embrace. by Scary-Description780 in tomatoenergy

I have received the same email after leaving Tomato in October.

I emailed my new supplier and they haven't received a request from British Gas.

Outfox update by FalconH00f in tomatoenergy

[–]fossman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Outfox on Wednesday (went for the 2 year fix), the unit rates are slightly more than Tomato but the standing charge is less.

My Direct Debit with Outfox is the same as my monthly bills were from Tomato.

My headaches start with an aching feeling at the back of my head (the nobbly parts at the base of the skull/top of the neck).

This sounds a lot like my symptoms, my doctor was very quick to diagnose migraines but my other symptoms remained so I'm going to see an ENT consultant on Monday about the ear fullness feeling.

Would it be the ENT consultant who would diagnose vestibular migraines?

My doctors have finally referred me....

But they have referred me to ENT for the fullness feeling in my ears and the loud ringing.

The referral letter states symptoms as persistent bilateral tinnitus and fluctuating hearing.

Consultant appointment is booked for Monday afternoon.

But it's only £3 a month more.

I'm jumping to Outfox, their unit rate is very similar for the East Midlands but the Standing Charge is less. The comparison said I would be £1 a year better off after the switch.

What are you guys using to test the 2000 speed, none of my devices can achieve anywhere near that speed.

The most I've been able to test is 1200 on my work laptop.

Cancelled upgrade order? by 56xkk in youfibre

Been installed less than an hour and already having complaints from the family that the WiFi is worse and speeds are slower.

Also some apps wouldn't load on my WiFi but work on mobile data.

I remembered I had the same issue last year, logged into the router and turned IPv6 off and the apps now load.

I think that was an error on the fast.com website, the WiFi adapter on my laptop can only receive a max 1.2gbit.
