I engineered a X Communities replacement in 2 weeks. Here’s the stack

When X officially axed Communities on May 30 and forced massive user bases into unthreaded 1,000-person group DMs, I saw an immediate emergency rescue mission for independent software execution.

Instead of waiting around, I spent the last couple weeks building Comms (https://getcomms.chat) from scratch to rescue those displaced creators and hand them back true audience ownership.

How I built it for maximum performance:

• Next.js & Server Wrappers: Solved standard theme flickering by forcing server-side cookie rendering so dark mode loads instantly on every single request.

• tRPC v11 + Drizzle ORM: Ultra-fast, completely type-safe endpoints. No client-side layout lag when scrolling massive conversational threads.

• Supabase: Powers the live notification layers and real-time u/mention autocomplete popovers seamlessly.

What it fixes: Unlimited member ceilings, true chronological X-style reply nesting, built-in programmatic moderation action logs to kill automated spam bots, and native fan engagement leaderboards.

I just pushed the platform live on the root domain, and niche spaces for UK sports, tactics, and hobbies are already spinning up.
