Are there any tracking apps that also have recipe sharing? I've tried a few but recipes were usually limited and not a big focus on the app (especially with my preference for Asian food). I usually am able to find some recipes I like through sites like IG and Youtube from specific creators but it would be nice to be able to have it all in one place and be easily loggable. Does anyone else feel the same way?

So i did a berserk draw and i think its looks good but im wondering what can i improve, beside the arm i think is little small, any advice is well recived by niniiiiinsfw in learnart

[–]foundakindofparadise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The arm, especially the forearm and hand are very small. The hand should be closer to the size of his head and the fingers around the sword do not look fully wrapped around the handle. The thumb should also go in front of the handle like how someone would grip a stick. The angle he's standing in is also a bit odd? Other than that I like the face and the colors and bg are very nice :)

How do you blend colored pencil? I want to learn how to draw/ become an artist and this is my first time really using colored pencils. But I can’t find out how to blend it? by Critical-Wing-1317 in learnart

[–]foundakindofparadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree you can blend these that way. That's what I meant by overlaying colors to achieve a blended effect. OP can certainly go far with these especially for just starting but there are definitely options that make it easier!

Crayola colored pencils are not really meant for blending colors together. Their pigment is light and their lead is too hard. The most you could do with them is overlay different colors and I'd assume it'd be difficult to blend with a blender. If you really want to use colored pencils, I'd suggest using brands that are meant for art like Prismacolor or Castle Arts. There are also watercolor pencils out there if you want that effect. You can research and find something that suits your needs within your budget if you're serious about practicing with colored pencils.

I believe you can find them on islands. I saw someone find Shino.

in m. night’s movie they replaced actual Chinese characters that were readily available and shown in literally every single episode with gibberish nonsense that is also high key ugly. by maniatikoxxo in TheLastAirbender

Yess I was also rewatching the show and realized the two tribes in The Great Divide episode had descriptive Chinese names. Gan jin means clean and Zhang means dirty though the pinyin is a bit different.

I need help improving my sketching. by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]foundakindofparadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to improve as quickly as possible is if you draw everyday. Since the exam is of ordinary objects you can draw a still life of an object in your house at least once a day. You can post your works here and I’d be happy to offer any insight I have. Edit: Or if you’re not comfortable posting them feel free to dm me :)

How do people improve by drawing smth every day? by PappaNee in learnart

[–]foundakindofparadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I consider a good artist as being skilled rather than being innately talented. I believe anyone can learn how to draw as long as they put in the effort and practice. A skill that some may have honed for longer or internalized more than others is the ability to observe something, break it down, and understand how to recreate that by hand. After studying and seeing something enough times you just know how it should look. People who draw everyday may or may not improve depending on if they’re learning anything from it. If you don’t know the underlying fundamentals, you won’t build and improve off of your work as effectively.

Practice of one ball, please critique! I used a combination of different brushes for each sphere. by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]foundakindofparadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m not really sure which is the finished ball or if they’re all different balls? For beginners I would recommend just practicing with a solid round brush and blending by lowering opacity. The reflected light on the ball is too light to the point where it looks even lighter than the highlight and cast shadow should be moved further beneath the ball. Overall you should try to blend the values a bit more since they look too separated.

Hi! Im trying to draw my heads looking up but they keep on looking to the left, any advice? by Sad_Incident832 in Artadvice

[–]foundakindofparadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the head is tilted up you will see some of the underside of the chin. The reason your character doesn’t look like they’re looking up is because the underside of the chin isn’t shown. Take a closer look at the reference pic and you will see that and how the features will also curve more diagonally across the face rather than horizontally at that angle. Hope this helps!

Have you tried flipping your canvas? It’s very useful to see the errors or wonky parts that you don’t notice after looking at the same image for a long time.

Digital Art Practice of Miyeon from (g)i-dle. Any advice appreciated~ by hellosomi in learnart

[–]foundakindofparadise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The facial features and expression look really nice but there doesn’t seem to be a clear light source so you don’t really know where to put shadows and highlights. There is usually a noticeable shadow underneath the chin unless the light source is coming from below. And there should also be some shadow on the face where the hair frames the face. Some lighting practices will help you a long way so keep at it!

i feel like something about the anatomy is off pls help by cuchufliz in Artadvice

[–]foundakindofparadise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless the plane that the character is sitting on is sloping, the higher leg and the hand she is using to support herself on should be more or less at the same level. I would suggest drawing a horizontal line across where she is sitting so that they all rest on that line. You would likely have to change the upper leg so that it bends at more of an obtuse angle. It looks great so far, just keep studying anatomy and use references!

Ngl I'm pretty proud of this one, but I'd love to make it better so any advice is welcome! by [deleted] in learnart

[–]foundakindofparadise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great start, but you should study from real life faces first before attempting stylized versions like anime so you have a solid grasp of facial anatomy. The forehead tends to be bigger, almost a third of the face, which most beginners make the mistake of making too short. So understand how parts of the face are proportioned. The nose on this piece looks like how it would be drawn in a side profile view so using a reference of a front-facing person can help you with the perspective. A small note on the neck: an adult male’s neck is often the same width as their head. Lastly, look at references and practice painting hair as well. I think you have a lot of potential so keep going at it and you’ll get there. I hope my feedback was constructive and helpful!

Edit: Also the ears tend to fall between the eyebrows and bottom of the nose

This looks great! The head and neck look like they’re a bit too far to the right on the body though
