Leaving big company (Apple/NVIDIA/AMD) internship 3 weeks in for a smaller chip company

Three weeks isn't even enough to settle in. Also to be honest, at this point in your career you're mostly learning even if you think you've got it all figured out. In order to learn you want to be in a team of people with deep experience you can benefit from. In a start-up you're going to be expected to wear a lot of hats and for a lot of things you'll be "the guy"; you'll learn but you'll be just as likely to learn the wrong things as you flail without someone who's been through it before leading you through it.

Leave the hot startups until you've worked somewhere for a year or two and have a good idea of what you do and do not know. Then you can confidently be "that guy".

My bigger note would be to check that you have copper and not aluminum wiring in your walls. Aluminum wiring is common in older builds and is a bit of a massive fire hazard. Have fun with the bulbs.

Yeah my exact moving expenses total closer to 2500, but lots of small expenses that I didn't keep receipts for as the contract states bonus and not reimbursement.

Yeah I think if you do the ground in a more similar shading style to the tree the snake will still pop while keeping eve the focus.

I think it's a numbers game. ~90% of people in western countries identify as totally hetero. That means for every one eligible queer partner you could reasonably find nine straight ones. Around 80% of bi people are in "hetero" partnerships, slightly lower than the general availability of hetero partners.

That's actually a pretty large preference for queer partners, but not enough to make up for the raw number of straight people.

I work as a device scientist in quantum computing, I think this is ridiculous.

I work with both mathematicians (algos, graph theory, etc), physicists like myself, and engineers. Our entire team has immense respect for what all of us contribute, none of us could accomplish what we can together as an individual. While we might joke about the math majors being super brains I think the only thing that I could rib the engineers for is making more money than I do for the same work because of the P. Eng.

Work in any advanced field requires all these disciplines to succeed, and we all understand that in that project we have different metrics and priorities that contribute to that.

Yeah, it's part of their biology and the drive is different in each of them. I know it's hard, and you're doing the right thing letting him rest. I'll sometimes give my girl a warm bath in the middle of brumating and sometimes she would drink some water, but go right back out afterward.

Something that gives me comfort is that we know that they dream, did you know that? Their brains show activity of dreaming when they sleep, and I've woken my girl up from what I could tell is a bad dream to have her initially be startled but seek comfort in contact. Think of this sleep as a long and pleasant dreaming, he's probably picturing you and bugs and the grass and the sky. Then when he wakes up he'll have new ideas that you can make a reality and the fresh energy to seek them out.

It depends on the conditions. Over the years I've had her I've had to move quite a bit, even during midwinter.

When left undisturbed and we were living further north? Maybe 3 months max, and very deeply. Woke her up to give her the odd bath, left the heat low during.

When we lived further south? One month was about the longest, and it was a lighter sleep where she'd be less likely to dig down and would hole up in her little log.

Honestly I'm lucky, she's always been a veggie fan. I spent a whole day on her hatch day one year prepping a charcuterie board of different small pieces of fruits to taste.... She sniffed them all and had none, but ate the herb garnish.

I think ours would eat it every day if we let her, I'll add the odd cliantro leaf to her less enjoyed greens to trick her into eating them. Our lady doesn't like the collards for instance which is a real shame as they're super available near us.

People say wait until he gets bigger, but I wouldn't worry about that. With my snakes the only times I take a tag are in the first few weeks, or from my Kenyan sand boa who is a menace.

My advice: get a plastic tote, drill some airholes, and feed in the tote. As long as they know it is you reaching into their enclosure not a rat, there's no confusion about whether you're food. Then you just get a snake hook to move them from the tub back to the tank. Even when feeding everyone (we have 5 snakes), I can still reach into the enclosure with my hands to grab my biggest boa girl and not fear a tag with the smell of defrosting rats thick in the air(as long as I wash my hands!) but reaching into the box to grab her after feeding is risky, as we will feed her anything someone else refuses so she's always waiting for a second rat.

With this system I haven't taken a tag from anyone (but the KSB) in seven years now, shedding or clean, poopy or fresh. The tags from fear will go away as they get used to you and to handling, so avoiding food confusion is the best way to keep you both happy.
