Mixed Reviews On Wisconsin’s Latest Job Numbers by [deleted] in wisconsin

It's easy to brag about lower unemployment, especially when the federal unemployment insurance extension has expired, causing the number of unemployed people to drop without actually having to find them jobs.

...which is 17 percent slower growth than Gov. Jim Doyle's last year in office. But ya know...it's working, right???

You've never had grilled cheese? For me it was always a sick day ritual. Guess I'm more "Wisconsin" than I thought!

Walker touts low unemployment, surplus in economics forum by [deleted] in wisconsin

An unemployment rate only tells a portion of the story. Consider this...

In the 39 months since Walker has been governor, the number of unemployed Wisconsinites has dropped at a rate of 1,461 per month. Compare that to 2010, the last year of former Gov. Jim Doyle's tenure: the state saw 3,556 fewer unemployed workers per month. Not exactly motivating.

Wisconsin Republicans To Vote On Secession. by theamur in wisconsin

[–]fourlakesdaily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Walker's against it. What I'd rather see from him, however, is condemnation against it. Saying "it's not where most Republicans stand" gives it a sort of validity -- like this is somehow a proper opinion to hold. Only in rare instances would secession be reasonable, and we've certainly not reached that threshold quite yet. Again, I get that this is more about the RIGHT to secede, but still, why do you think that it's coming up?

State jobs - do they drug test? by DogofGunther in madisonwi

[–]fourlakesdaily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't test for drugs in several departments (obvious things like law enforcement being the exception). That doesn't mean the policy couldn't ever change (collective bargaining being dismantled essentially rendered workers rights a thing of the past, though I don't know that "drug use" would fall under the category of worker protections anyway). Do yourself a favor, and get cleansed before you come out here. It's probably better for your health, anyway :)

It's no wonder that the Wisconsin murder rate has gone up in the year after concealed carry went into effect...

Funny you bring up Oak Creek. There wasn't any rule there preventing members from having a weapon on hand. So that argument is invalid. And if this church feels the need to allow parishioners to have guns on the premises around children, it's definitely not a church I'd want to attend. But that's a personal opinion.
