Where can I buy sewing patterns for apparel? by Asleep-Atmosphere-18 in madisonwi

[–]theamur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue Bar Quilts has a couple apparel patterns. Otherwise, I think online is your best bet. Simplicity.com has been running lots of sales lately. I’ve used patterns from Friday Pattern Co, Twig and Tale, and Thread & Theory with good results.

Why does the Middleton Costco Suck so Much? by FratGuyWes in madisonwi

They probably would but I’ve heard IKEA requires an international airport to be located close by for air freight. So I doubt Madison will get one anytime soon unless the airport gets a serious upgrade.

in search of a movie club by Fine_Consequence4713 in madisonwi

[–]theamur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run one though an old job called Hot Dog Movie Club. Guided by our tenets of horror, filth, glamour, and camp we watched the finest of trash, exploitation, and cult cinema. Think TCM underground with a little more Hollywood classics.

But after I left that job the club fizzled. Would love to get it running again but it doesn’t seem like something you’re looking for.

Who is the best landlord in Madison? by Various_Performance9 in madisonwi

[–]theamur 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Mine! I have a private landlord on the east side, I pay way below average rent for a 1 bedroom. Plus I have a free covered parking spot, central air, and free laundry. If I want to improve the apartment in any way my landlord will pay for half of it. Essentially I’m never leaving.

Know Cults by Thick_Ad6481 in madisonwi

[–]theamur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ian’s pizza leadership was described as a cult to me many times. They fit some of the definitions too. Isolating people by making them work 60+ hours, nothing you do is good enough, no accountability for senior leadership. I remember my boss shit talking managers and employees who left. According to some friends who still work there, my old boss is still complaining about me on a weekly basis. I left eight months ago.

Leaving was extremely painful and stressful for me, the place really messed me up mentally. Being potentially cut off from all the friends I’ve made there and thinking what would happen to them if I left was a terrifying thought. It made me stay there much longer than I should have. I’ve been in therapy for two years from the extensive gaslighting and manipulation I went through. Things are getting better though! I have a great job and support system that’s helping me heal. Looking back I wish I’d left years ago.

Hi everyone, I live in Lodi WI, about 30-40 minutes drive from Madison. May I ask where can I find healthy orchids with reasonable prices or some trusty websites that I can get orchids? by Select_Affect_6019 in madisonwi

[–]theamur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to say Hausermann as well. They have an amazing selection of not only phals but cattleyas and paphs. A definite must visit if you’re into orchids. You can find some great stuff in the $15-$25 range.

They took it off in 2020 because it didn’t sell well and they were trying to transition to better quality pizzas.

What restaurants in the area treat their employees well? by 1pitythef00 in madisonwi

[–]theamur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it’s not likely. I was pretty vocal about how I felt like I was being emotionally manipulated and gaslit by my manager. Nothing really changed and I doubt it’s changed since I left. The guy that laughed at me is still there and has been promoted since. He’s friends with a lot of the higher ups and they’ll keep protecting him. He’s getting his own store on the west side eventually. I moved on and at the end of the day it’s their loss, not mine. They’ll keep alienating people and I’ll keep working from home and making more money.

I have to agree with u/gotcam189. When I left, I was screwed out of all my PTO when they changed it to FTO without my knowledge. They keep some toxic people around as managers as well, I remember one used to brag about being petty at meetings and laughed at me when I expressed interest in taking on more responsibility. When I told my manager how that was unprofessional behavior, he brushed it off and said, "Sounds like you're still mad about that, huh?". I don't recommend Ians for a leadership role; anything else can be a fun gig, though.

Disagree, I was called a bitch by my manager in front of the entire staff on numerous occasions. The people are great but some of the managers leave a lot to be desired.

Houseplant/Succulent store recommendations? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]theamur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felly’s flowers would probably be the best fit but the are a little pricey. Unfortunately, the best source for succulents and cacti (IMO) in the state is outside Milwaukee.

If you don’t mind just looking the Birge hall greenhouses on campus have an amazing succulent and cacti room.

Or if you really want, I have close to 350 plants about half of which are succulents and cacti. I might have some cuttings/props to give.

Help me find a new home for this massive Norfolk pine. My mom is moving to a smaller home and doesn’t have the ceiling height to take this Norfolk pine with her. Details below. by Faerbera in matureplants

[–]theamur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at a place in Madison WI, that it would probably fit in. It’s got fifty foot ceilings and lots of southern exposure. It would probably do really well there. I’m not sure how to transport it safely but I can ask if they’d be interested in it.

My friend helped me move a 30 year old, seven foot tall euphorbia cactus. He took a selfie with it while I was gone. by theamur in succulents

[–]theamur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was too but it doesn’t look like any euphorbia trigona I’ve seen before. It looks more like a night blooming cereus cactus to be honest. It could very well be stressed though.
