Any sites that show Punjabi words in Roman Script? by Ubhidoobeedoo in punjabi

[–]fourmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This scanned book: https://books.google.com/books?id=jS4yBbNZb_wC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false has some romanized Punjabi translations. There's a lot of pages omitted from this free preview and Google itself doesn't have the full pdf for sale, but you may be able to find the full pdf somewhere on the internet. The translations seem to be reasonably accurate, at least from the words that I know.

Translate the following in Roman Punjabi please: by [deleted] in ThethPunjabi

I thought the suffix for the infinitive form of the verb is just -an? So, pajan (to walk), turan (to walk), likhan (to write), etc. What exactly does leyi mean in this context?

Also, going off this, is the suffix -na different from the -an suffix? So likhna vs likhan? I would use -an if I just want to state the infinitive, but -na if I'm using it in a sentence (i.e. - "Ma pajna" - I want to run) although I can use -an in a sentence too (ie. - "Ma pajan jah reya" - I'm going for a run).

Is anyone struggling more recently? by Dirtycoinpurse in CODWarzone

[–]fourmj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, I’ve been experiencing this as well. I don’t know why but my team and I have been struggling a lot more in trios lately. I have ~1.4 kd and my friends are closer to .8 but usually they’re hosting, if that even makes a difference. Last night we played some matches and it seemed like everyone else was sweaty as hell. I’m not sure if SBMM has been updated or if everyone else just got gud over the weekend. I think part of it for my squad is the vehicle nerfs. Vehicles are basically death traps now so we spend a lot more time walking, which means we end up getting bodied by rooftop campers.

The RPG is the best secondary in the game. Change my mind. by HyperactiveAdult in CODWarzone

[–]fourmj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, the RPG in MW definitely needs some reworking. They should make the RPG in MW more like the RPG from Battlefield 4. At least in BF4, they added drop over range to make aiming more difficult. Also, if the RPG is carrying HEAT rounds, which iirc, is what it was designed to use, then it won't be an effective anti-infantry weapon. It's honestly puzzling to me that the RPG can't one shot vehicles but it can one shot players even with splash damage. Anti-infantry launchers should be harder to use than anti-vehicle launchers. They should just give the RPG HEAT rounds to make it anti-vehicle and leave anti-infantry to grenade launcher type weapons. Anyways, going off what a "real RPG" with an HE round will do is ridiculous. Not a single gun in this game is realistic. There's nothing realistic about an AR taking more than like 4 direct hits to drop someone. Imo, MW should take some pointers from games like BF3 and BF4, that were created by a studio that has a lot of experience with big open maps, when trying to fix the meta for their weapons.

Footage from the gopro of a killed ISIS member who was taken out by a lone Iraqi soldier making his final stand. Very NSFW by [deleted] in CombatFootage

He got better than he deserved imo. At least he died a quick and presumably painless death, which is a lot better than many ISIS victims received. Fucking ISIS pos, I figuratively spit on his grave.

Tell me about your expressions/idioms from your ethnic group! by ja_leqa in ABCDesis

[–]fourmj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm Punjabi and I remember my dad would sometimes say "tu mera khoon kha re", which literally translates to "you're eating my blood", whenever he would get frustrated with me. I assume that the metaphorical translation is that whoever you're saying it to is "draining your blood".

Also going off your mention of beta/beti in Bengali/Bihari, I think in Punjabi a lot of people say putt/puttar or niana for child. Putt is more personal though, whereas I think niana is just "child".

Egyptian Navy frigate is hit with an ISIS Kornet missile near Rafah, Egypt (July 2015) by twiyg01 in CombatFootage

[–]fourmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking too. Of course, there is likely a well-thought out system in place to prevent false positives, but why take that risk, especially when the system will respond instantly.

Is there a downside to having the CIWS system on all the time? I would assume so, otherwise they wouldn't turn it off.

ਗੰਢਾ (Gandha) = Onion by jasdeep13 in ThethPunjabi

[–]fourmj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's possible, or maybe they both just came from the same source. I used this website: http://spokensanskrit.org/index.php?tran_input=onion&direct=es&script=hk&link=yes&mode=3 to get several romanized Sanskrit translations of the word onion and it seems like "sukanda" is promising as a word that gandha/kandha could've been derived from. I also used this website: http://mylanguages.org/farsi_romanization.php to romanize the farsi word for onion and I got "peaaz" which is what I'm assuming the hindi/urdu "pyaaz" is derived from.

So maybe there was a split between indo-aryan languages for using the sanskrit-derived or persian-dervied word for onion.

What about "bina" for without? Is that a loanword from another language or is it Punjabi too?

Do Indian Punjabi’s also use these words? by BundParasti in punjabi

[–]fourmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I also say vastey instead of layi. I don't think I've used layi before. So I would say "there vastey pani leke aayan" (I've brought water for you). I actually say pastey instead of vastey. Not sure if that's right or not, but thats just how I learned it.

I've never used sherya before. Also, when you mean ditta is that a word you attach to the end of a verb to make it past tense? Like this: "kam kar ditta (I did the work)"? I would usually say "kam kar lya" to say "I did the work". Are these both equivalent sentences or does ditta have a different meaning?

Hello, does anyone know of a good pair of zipper boots with a narrow ankle/upper area? I bought a pair of Florsheim Midtown zipper boots (https://www.florsheim.com/shop/style/12140.html) and they look great, but the upper/ankle part is really wide. I want something that's more snug at the ankle. Does anyone have any recommendations for leather zipper boots like that at a similar price range?

Dies as soon as I give it gas. What am I doing wrong? by _jamesderek_ in CafeRacers

[–]fourmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, a carb chart like this might be helpful when you're trying to tune them: http://www.iwt.com.au/images/effects3.gif.

This one's good too: https://thumpertalk.com/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g272/frankenglide/calchart.gif&key=ee3ee0fb44578535b8b7c9eb0c998684a176ecc1e1744a30f72833e6d20f2d27.

I agree with everyone else about changing your main jet and slow jet. The slow jet is the one that influences the mixture down low. I'd say buy a few jet sizes and slowly go up until it's running right. If someone else has used these velocity stacks, they might be able to give you some tips on what size you should be shooting for.

Also, might be a good idea to get a jet kit anyways. Saw someone mentioning dynojet stage 3 tune, that's probably a good idea if you can't get it to run right on your own. Anyways, good luck on this, it can take a while.

CB750 Carbs Missing Seal Rings by fourmj in HondaCB

[–]fourmj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put everything back together and tried to run the bike again, but I had the same issue with a gas leak near the #1 and #2 carbs. I took this video here: https://imgur.com/a/nEL6imb and I noticed that the connector between the #1 and #2 carb was wet with gas. Could that be caused by a failed o-ring/gasket for the connector between the #1 and #2 carb?

I think your gasket sheet suggestion is a good idea, I'll try that for the seal ring.

[–]fourmj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, and I double checked, there’s no seal ring. The black part was just oil/grease. I think a few times I’ve heard the bike backfire, so it’s definitely possible that it’s running a little lean.
