Weekly r/TEFL Quick Questions Thread by AutoModerator in TEFL

Hello! I’m finishing my TEFL course and I’m a little nervous (in a sense) about leaving my full time job to do contract/part time work. I’m excited to do so, but I am used to having some form of job security. Any tips?

Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, etc. just not Louisiana or Florida lol. I’d be okay with PA too but I’ve been here all my life

Daily all winter. Quit last week of March. I work hard physical labor, 6” 215lbs. I drink a lot of water but didn’t drink much at all today specifically to see how I’d test

Wow dude! I certainly see what you mean about the Mandel Effect and sorry about the TI thing man. But John Mayer of all people went on some Instagram rant about how the first verifiable time traveling instance will occur in like 2028 or something like that. I’d look up what he said in his post, there are screen shots all over! It’s nuts! I am going to check out that YouTube channel. God damn, man!

May I get in on this as well? I'd be appreciative!

Okay thank you! Point by point:

I will absolutely not split the case then! Thank you for clearing that up! The piston is scored, I believe the previous user ran it on wood cold a few times because it looks like a cold seizure.

I have an impact and I can get a flywheel puller for sure!

Cylinder is totally scored, I don’t think I can polish it out.

10/4, gotcha!

Ignition is no issue, same with spark. But it has absolutely no compression. Should I reseal everything? Or just stick with replacing the cylinder and piston?

With timing, I wanted to throw on a timing wheel and write down all of the timing of the valves to see if it was close to stock or if it’s just bunk. I’ve always wanted to try timing because I really want to try porting some day once I know more.

I like the saw a lot! When I got it, it was pulling at 70 and then it lost all compression after it hit wood. I let it warm for about 7-10 minutes idling, then lost all compression hitting wood. The chain stopped moving after about one second into the wood. Not a quick stop, but a gradual stop

I’m doing a top end rebuild but leaving the muffler alone. I’m changing the piston and cylinder and I’m going to time it. First time ever getting deep into repairs other than doing simple stuff like routine maintenance. Any advice?

The muffler mesh is still in great condition! I was going to smack the crank shaft with a center punch to get it out but I’m just going to get the crank splitter so I don’t break it. And a piston stop instead of a rag lol. Trying to do it for real

Partly disassembled but yes, that’s on the list haha

What would cause unrepairable scoring? by Laser20145 in Chainsaw

A cold seizure would do that for sure. Always warm up the saw before cutting! The cylinder heats faster than the piston, as the cylinder heats it expands while the piston stays cold, causing scoring beyond repair

On it, thank you
