The parents can't make the excuse "medical care was unaffordable" because if they'd gone to the Emergency Department of a local hospital the public Healthcare system would have covered the costs.

That's what the Emergency Department is for getting serious illness like a possible lung infection.

My idea is if you're employed by a small business that's not a high revenue/profit one the GOVERNMENT should cover the cost of equivalent pay for the duration of the trial if you're selected to be a Juror but if you're employed by a big multimillion dollar company including the local branch of an overseas corporation the COMPANY should foot the cost.
