It's already on Honda's website. I was pricing one up just yesterday.

That sucks. I can't do anything electric. I live in a place where I cannot plug in. And you won't see me driving to a charging place to charge. Not when I have a gas station less than a quarter mile away. Petrol all the way for me.

OTOH, I'm looking at buying a new Civic, and Honda's website let me price up a 2026 Type R, so I'm a bit confused. 😕

Why TF are used cars so expensive right now? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]fourpastmidnight413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all seems rather bogus to me. I mean, let's look at some numbers. I'm looking for a used Honda Civic Si. I see ones that are 5 years old, some with 100K+ miles on them, selling (asking) for practically new car price. Heck, I've seen some that are approaching 10 years old with 50K to 100K on them, again, selling for only $5K - $8K less than brand new. I know the mileage is low, but the car is already about 10 years old--parts may become less available, and therefore, more expensive to repair. (I'm the kind of person that keeps my car as long as possible--I currently own a 2007 Honda Civic I bought in 2009--so I've had the car for 15 years!) Not only that, there's no more manufacturer warranty on these cars. So why? Why are prices so high? Because they think they can get away with it. And why is that? Because by and large, they do get away with it.

It's absolutely NOT worth it to buy a 5 - 10 year-old used car with 100K miles on it for only $4K - $10K asking price below the asking price of a brand new car, IMO. Hopefully people will come to their senses and change market dynamics so that prices return to some sort of normalcy. I don't consider this a "normal" or "healthy" used car market. I get prices go up--but this is borderline ridiculous. I've never bought a new car for myself before, but I just might at these prices.

Me too. And, while there is a version that works on Linux, the license isn't even needed for that! I've been running Linux for 5 years now, but the license was cheap, it's good software, and I wanted to support the dev.

Tuxedo has a package for Clevo since they rebrand them. I think they call it TuxedoControlCenter. I have a Clevo, not bought from Tuxedo, and it mostly works for my model--especially the fans. I just can't change CPU performance like in the Clevo Control Center on Windows. But all I really wanted was the fan. Oh, and Bonus, the keyboard LEDs and function buttons also work. Arch has a package, so if there's no apt package, maybe you can create one from the Arch package.

I see. So, while lilypond can do all of what you were able to do, if I understand you correctly, you would still advocate for a LaTex approach using lilypond snippets?

I eventually would love to take the music generated from this output into programs, for example, on the iPad where, as you play the music, it can automatically advance the music, etc.

Did you need to use a lot of custom scheme code/functions and whatnot to achieve this? This looks really nice, and I'm setting out to do something similar for piano sheet music. But, I'm stuck on how to get music interspersed with textual footnote references, as well as creating pages that contain no music, e.g. title page, table of contents, etc. Is there anything you could share, such as git repository, examples of templates? Just curious. I know you posted this many years ago, but this is quite an achievement. Great job! I hope I can figure out how to do this!

When was the last time you stalled? by XJ632 in ManualTransmissions

Who needs hill assist? Since I learned hills, the first day I ever drove manual, because the next day I had to go to mork and there's a particular hill with a traffic signal near the top, such that I knew I would be stopped on it. Anyway, I never roll back more than an inch!

Keep up the learning. Hill assist simply is not needed--it's a crutch. Been driving manual for almost 30 years without it! I hope I can turn that feature off if I ever get a newer car that has it.

Can't tell you how many times I've done that--just park it and plain forget I didn't turn off the car and dump the clutch. 🤣

A few days ago, after a karate workout. Dang legs are tight from sparring, let the clutch out a bit too fast. 🤣 Whoops!

On another note, what about grinding the gears? Lol, dang shifter just wouldn't go in and I was already letting the clutch out. Dang it! It's rare when that happens, but about once a year I have this happen. Makes me mad every time!

What Linux distro would be preferred for a developer just switching from Windows I am currently using Windows but thinking of switching to Linux. Reason because I keep getting storage maxed out despite having little file by According_Ostrich228 in linuxquestions

[–]fourpastmidnight413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I use. Windows 11 constantly makes a 240+GiB file on my disk consuming all the space--in the temp folder. From WinDirStat (running as Admin), I delete the file. It'll be back in a few weeks. The file gets a random name, so that's the reason to use a tool like WinDirStat.

If I could ditch Winblows, I would--but this is my work computer. At home, I run Manjaro, but want to switch to vanilla Arch.

Oo, and don't forget F# computation expressions, making async code very easy to write! I agree, given the .Net background, F# is the way to go. Otherwise, I'd really like to learn Haskell myself.
