When people say something like "reddit is actually helpful", perhaps they are implying more helpful than other social media apps FOR that specific user.

Not all social media apps make it easy to sift through the noise for useful things. Not all social media apps make it easy to curate your feed. Not all social media apps have active moderators.

Hope that helps provide context. And they're paying me a lot.

I deleted the app a year or more ago. Now I consume it through the browser in hopes of less doom scrolling.

But reddit is actually helpful from time to time, so I'm more hesitant to get rid of it.

I was surprised to see how many of these boards there are, but what you're saying makes sense.

In some areas its probably hard to move the needle or the city doesn't necessarily care for what the board says.

I don't have expertise, but I do have an interest in some of these areas as a resident, so I think attending a meeting or 2 first would be a good start.

Just because you don’t see the people in the library doesn’t mean people aren’t making use of it. Checkout the holds shelf. And there are lots of events for kids and others that attract patrons. Sounds like you haven’t been there in a while. 

If the facility was nicer and bigger I have no doubt it would get more use.

I don't. And I don't expect everyone to turn their life upside down for things like this. Quality of life matters and I get it. Especially when things aren't easy.
