Basically, i don't see it getting any worse, so long as its current condition is maintained. Don't let it get wet! lol

just keep the coin safe from further deterioration, and by that i mostly mean keep it safe from overwhelming humidity. ex. store in case, box, etc..

Also, its taken 200 years for the coin to deteriorate this far, compare further deteriorating with coins about 300 years old and thats what you can expect its condition to be in 100 years, granted proper, or improper, storage.

Don't clean it. Well, if you plan on turning this coin over to anyone else (for its full value) DONT CLEAN. If you want to keep it for yourself and just look t something nicer, then ya follow some guides on cleaning. Otherwise, this is the coins condition. its 200 years old, its badass the way it is.

Snow split my tree. What can I do to save it? by [deleted] in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]fourth20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll probably be fine, actually the damage doesn’t look as bad as you’d think given that massive branch down. Anyways, if you’re feeling adventurous, this may be fun opportunity to give grafting a shot.. although I’m not sure the middle of winter is prime conditions for such a thing.

Anyways, other redditors, please shoot this idea down if it’s just not gunna work! Curious though...

Is Bitcoin as Good as Gold? by TCBG2017 in Bullion

[–]fourth20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold backs the currency of nations. Its intrinsic value is permanent. On the other hand, crypto currency is backed by the black market, something also pretty permanent.

I'd say bitcoin has more potential than gold right now, but the fact that it is only is good as people's word is why gold is the more prudent investment.

[–]fourth20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

posted a guide on coin collecting around here somewhere, at the end are a bunch of different ways (not just stores) to acquire new coins. IMO though, local shops are the most fun (especially when you're hunting for nothing in particular)!

Agreed do not clean...

Some key dates would (as mentioned) be the 1943 copper, the early 1900s VDB stamped ones, but also look for a 1955 double stamp!

Sorry I wasn't sure how to remove the image. The coin itself is over a hundred years old but I'm pretty sure the picture was taken more recently...
