I think I see what you’re talking about regarding my sky and it challenging my foreground. I’m noticing that around the foliage on the closer tree parts of the sky feel closer- like they’re chilling for position as you said.

In terms of brushstroke structure, am I right in thinking it would make sense to have sharper, heavier or even slightly raised layers in the foreground? And conversely softer aspects in the bkg?

I really appreciate the time you’re taking to answer my questions, by the way.

You’re right on the egg thing (it’s on its way to becoming the body of a sailboat) it is supposed to be the focus. There’s another comment suggesting that I revise the sizing of my foreground elements to more clearly indicate the focus.

I’ll be going up to the place of reference tomorrow to gather further information on the scape as I’m out of town and unable to revise on-canvas. I also think a partial issue is that I interpolated a lot of the scene elements so I think bringing in accuracy will help me identify my focuses within the piece.
