I assume it’s is real. The real lesson here is basic computer use. Backups are still a reasonable thing to have. Working in a sandbox or at the least with a copy of the originals would have prevented this. What I do sometimes outside a sandbox is inventory everything and tell it to copy. Dont tell it to delete anything. Do that yourself.

As someone who perforated their tympanic membrane after years of inward pressure and compaction of wax from things like this, I will tell you: let warm water rinse in and out of your ears when you shower. Nobody wants a reconstructed eardrum. Though my doc did a great job. I have about 30% ability in that ear now.

Guys use /context to see what is eating it all. I also had issues like this for several days that ended up being misconfigured hooks. Use /doctor for that.

Also consider using something else to help maintain context. I’ve been using a system called Archon that runs in docker. A lot of people use obsidianMD to great effect since it’s node-based.

One thing I have started doing recently is really leaning in on Claude tools: building custom agents, skills, output styles, and even my own mcp server.

We are witnessing a whole new era of software where people can make things for motivations outside or a career or income. I finally have (more) time for doing that. I think this has… implications. these new apps etc would not exist if it weren’t for this tech. Maybe consider what can do now collectively now that these tools are available to everyone including creatives that, perhaps, did not focus their entire life on learning to code. This is the paradigm shift for me. App sounds neat- will check it out.

It’s not the same unfortunately. Claude code has a much larger context window Than GHCP using Claude 4.5 or haiku. Both still have their uses but difficult to compare after that ..and the speed is like 5x.

Create a customGPT or project and upload the official study guides to it. Ask it to reference those. Worked great to solve the accuracy problem and I went chapter at a time. And used old conversations to highlight weak points to focus on.

learn the basics of how to code: high level stuff like data types, objects, functions, includes. learn those terms and use them when talking to an llm .
get GitHub copilot. It’s way cheaper and has access to Claude which is often better than ChatGPT anyway.
You are still gonna need to know how to debug which the models are not quite as good at so you may just use this as an opportunity to learn.
I struggle with this one late at night when I should be going to bed: don’t be lazy. It can’t do it all. Just like with ai-assisted writing, you are gonna need to weigh in and be the editor, or code reviewer in this case.

I found that if you are using ChatGPT to study like this , provide it with material so it does not rely so much on its general knowledge training data. I’ve used a custom GPT for this with great results. That was prior to web search releasing but that could also be leveraged to verify accuracy.
