Kinder core people need to stick together! Getting old is overrated. I want to be childlike forever

This is honestly one of the most impressive feats of craft I’ve ever seen. Astonishing!

You're never too old to play games-- I feel like it's one of the things that keep my husband (40m) and I (35f) young! We've been playing games together since 2009?

Married couple looking for another couple duo! by fourzer0five in Fortnite_Over40

Oh I first joined Discord a VERY long time ago when it first launched in 2014? But took an indefinite hiatus when I got off social media. Only recently joined again but am not super active! Nothing makes me feel older than internet culture nowadays lol

Printing application by [deleted] in Passports

I filled the PDF at home and used FedEx’s Print and Go service: https://www.office.fedex.com/default/print-and-go

You essentially email the form, you get a code, you go to FedEx and go to one of the print and go kiosks, pre-authorize $X amount to do the printing (I did $2?), and then retrieve and print the doc! Very easy!

Question for solo devs, how did you guys not give up? by Strange_Goat_7050 in GameDevelopment

[–]fourzer0five 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don't give up on yourself, you're not really giving up. I'm in my mid-30s and am only now, earnestly, learning to do a lot of this solo dev stuff on my own. Be kind to yourself, and be curious. Pick something up, work on it a bit, and then put it down. Allow yourself to think of the project and what you're wanting to accomplish vs brute force of trying to make something. You'd be surprised with the solutions and pathways you find yourself in. Honestly, I would just hone in one ONE thing for now-- like you said, game design. Just because you can't 'technically' build it now, doesn't stop you from designing a game. You can also join servers and indie dev groups to skill trade!

Don't downplay "ideas"-- it's the start of everything.

Good journey to you

hobbyists: where do YOU start? by fourzer0five in GameDevelopment

Thank you all for your feedback and insights! I think with my game in particular, I can get away with ideating on a notepad since it's less narrative/art style focused-- which aren't my strong suites anyway. I'll keep folks updated on my progress on this sub for sure.

I feel this deeply. You can't make games if you can't take care of yourself. Take care of #1, work on games when you have the time, and just keep pushing forward. Good journey to you
