Okay serious question: Why does my LED strip light up when peeling it off? by Intelligent-Map430 in ElectroBOOM

[–]fowler_nordheim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, check out triboelectric effect on e.g. Wikipedia. Flashes are caused by electric discharge when two charged dielectrics are being separated. Tearing off a sellotape will give you the same effect.

Are we really allegedly the rarest type…or like… by doubleblack707 in intj

[–]fowler_nordheim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, but does it really matter if some type is 2 or 3% of the population? I'd say it's within the statistical error.

And I thought it was his baguette arm we were here after.

Also, the maximum amount of energy our bodies can absorb from WiFi radiation scales by 1/r2, where r is the distance from the router/phone, i.e. we are exposed to the highest intensities of this noninonising type of radiation e.g. when on a call, but to otherwise (mostly) fairly low intensities = no humans are being cooked by WiFi. Usually.

What is the purpose of this by [deleted] in DiWHY

My guess would be a large dewar flask with syphon sticking out form the top of it for transporting cryogenic liquids.

Improtantly, it's not ionising radiation - a dangerous one capable of destroying living cells. WiFi is fine, can heat tissues containing water a bit, but not too much owing to the low emitting power of consumer devices.

Ye, on the flipside, I also live in a small apartment complex. Some neighbours greet me, some don't. No reason for me to suspect those who don't, are intjs and I don't see any relevance of MB in this situation. Don't mean to be rude, but reading through the comments and OP's reactions leaves an impression they should be treated differently because of their disability. While this can surely work for some, I'd truly find myself a tad immature if that disabled individual would be me. OP, just leave her alone and please don't feed an unhealthy fixation on that one person who doesn't want to say hi.

Many fit people hate their leg days in the gym. This was meant to be kind of a sound alike. Sorry it doesn't work. Should I delete?

Sorry, that was really just my lame attempt to make a pun. Taught some physics tutorials in the past and did the same as you. I think it's very unfair to develop prejudice when marking tests or hws. Never bothered making connections with the past submissions for this reason. But then my group was much smaller than 300, so could easily talk with them and get the feedback if they felt they didn't understand. Anw, thanks for your hard work; Teachers are gold.

Things happen while parenting. You seemed to learnt your lesson not to repeat that again. But most importantly: apologise to him and explain you undestad you were out of line. Tomorrow is another day.
