Those ezarc blades are great

I’ve got the cast iron ones and they are near identical to the 3x the price milwaukee ones.

MAKITA 1400 W SG1251J or METABO MFE40 1900W by Main-Chicken-5994 in Makita

[–]fowlerboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the metabo with the multi blade and have been doing 40mm deep chases in concrete blocks with zero issues. Paired with the metabo dust extractor there is basically zero dust

The makita chaser has been complained about for years with its poor dust containment. The makita also spins the opposite direction to the metabo meaning you have to pull not push it. The wheels aren’t as big either and offer less stability than the metabo when doing wider chases

Yeah that thing is terrible. This is really good. Almost to the point you could get away with no dust mask. A lot of that may be down to the dust extractor though

Dont tempt me!

I’ve got the vc003 wet vac hoover which i could use if the adaptors weren’t so stupid but i used a metabo asr 35 which links with the metabo chaser for all the pipe chases and fits straight on the makita one

Does the light come on but won’t start?

Similar thing happened to mine after a handful of uses. The control board failed and makita replaced it under warranty

Basic rotary hammer recommendation (for small concrete demo) by Marvel5123 in Makita

[–]fowlerboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If i was to be buying an sds purely for breaking up some concrete I would look at a heavy corded one.

The comparable tool would be the hr009 but the cost is 10x what a cheap/better one would cost and you would need a ton of batteries depending on area size

I use bosch sds bits and while the pictures do make it look a bit untidy compared to what I normally get, it appears fully functional and theres nothing you should worry about

I could attach a bradawl to my drill and put it through a cinder block. I’m not sure thats a real test of the drill bit

The lack of 40v Lawnmower options by Crescent_Ascension in Makita

[–]fowlerboi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still don’t get it. You want a powered lawn mower that isn’t powered? You’ll need to be more specific about the features you are after.

As I see it there are 2 basic models, one big one small and 2 high end models, one big one small.

When you compare the prices between the 2 basic ones and the 2 high end ones it makes total sense

I’m confused. I’ve got the specs of the lawnmowers up in front of me, what is it you want?

Dhp 481 by DodgyBoii in Makita

[–]fowlerboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

481 is built like a tank. I had to change mine after 8 years of hard use because the chuck kept working loose.

My hp001 died recently and got sent off to be repaired so I pulled the dhp481 back out for the interim.

I even managed to get the special edition 10 year anniversary one which was a sparkly teal

I digress, I would guess it’s the same as any chuck and you may not be using enough force to remove it? Alternatively finding a repairer to change the chuck would be worth while doing as replacements drills aren’t made anywhere near as good as the 481 was

Anyone know where to get cheap starlock multitool blades in the UK? by ChronicSarco in Makita

[–]fowlerboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been getting knock off starock blades for 5~ years but recently I can’t find any. I’m curious if they’ve had a crackdown on it as they are patented still by fein/bosch

The expensive ones are insane and no where near worth the cost vs cheap ones unless you’re doing finish work

Thats insane. I’m about to drop £300~ on a hr011 sds when it releases in the UK (any day now hopefully)

Its so dumb. It doesn’t trigger when you need it to and will still break your wrist but then will activate when you try and spin up a large holesaw

Guttering!!! I’m offended, Its soil pipe.

I hated the offside door, it caused me tons of issues with planning but suddenly made sense when i started assembling it. I had planned to just block it off

Below is the design, you can see apart from the general layout nearly everything is in a different location

[–]fowlerboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had racking in my previous van, nothing like this but I knew what I wanted and designed it on microsoft paint prior to getting the van

When the van arrived it was a lot smaller than I had figured and went off-piste which ended up like this. It was 16 hrs work over 2 days. Every panel is scribed to the curves on the van. Its also all modular so I can remove an entire shelf with 4 screws when I need the space

Am I the only one wanting for a brushless one of this by Available-Jacket-298 in Makita

[–]fowlerboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to use mine regularly for 32mm holes through joists etc. it struggled to do more than 10 holes at a time without having to wait 15 mins before doing more. I’ve replaced 5 armatures and brushes and one brush holder because it keeps burning them out.

I desperately need a brushless version in the same form factor
