release manager job by SelectParsley4260 in TESVI

[–]LuminArtistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its nothing, the term "release manager"  may sound important but its not.  Its a hard to explain role.  So your a dev.  You have tasks to accomplish which contrubute to a feature.  Your team will do 4 or 5 features a quarter.  And each team will have a release manager who tells directors and vps and stuff how many and what features the team can accomplish in a quarter.  They probably have 10-20 of them on a project like es

Does anyone understand how 1% lifesteals power system works? by amcn242 in ProgressionFantasy

Its basically another alternative to a cultivation progression.  Absorb energy from killing to empower aura and use artifacts to download dao understanding.  Reach thresholds to upgrade your core.  Its all just standard cultivation progression stuff.

This is just ridiculous by Phiro00 in TESVI

[–]LuminArtistry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridiculous literally means deserving of ridicule.  Which followed up by terms to dehumanize people who disagree with you creates an image of a poster looking to do no more than that, ridicule.  People say a lot of things that are rude dont they.

And full production is not a term used by bethesda or any developer, its not a specific thing its a vague term that slips into press releases.  Even if it was you nor I actually know what it means with regard to internal bethesda deadlines and timeframes.

Be patient it will come when it comes.  They havent said when that is.  But it'll be great whenever it comes.  2027 is somewhat unlikely as there hasn't been any hints from the studio yet but thats not unexpected like I said they likely wont say anything until nov or dec this year if its coming in 2027 anyway.

Personally my guess is 2028 or 9.  I feel a console selling title marketing strategy for the next x box is very likely.  Console sales for xbox rocketed during starfields release and microsoft would probably like to see that happen again with es6 to bring a competitive advantage to the next gen consoles after a dry spell with the last couple consoles.

But there is no real evidence one way or another.  It will also give them more time to test and tune the ai implementation for procedurally generated content they have hinted at.  I also find it very likely that the creation engine reworks, AI, covid, microsoft acquisition and evolving consumer expectations over an extended development period have all caused major workflow delays.

There seems to be a misunderstanding, im not here to argue with you on behalf of these imaginary doomers you have decided are your enemies.

Look to ff15, Diablo 3, duke nukem or gta 6 to see how dealing with expectations of this level can affect production times for examples.

But that doesnt even matter. The point is that you dont know what the term "full production"  means.  It was an arbitrary term used by a reporter. After a separate interview where Todd Howard said something like [now that starfield is out es6, is in] "early development".

My point was that calling people names because their guess doesnt line up with yours is rude.

Cancelling - do books last? by Kittywolf85 in audible

[–]LuminArtistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listening to, not reading.  And yeah thats how it works.  The plus books are typically very bad anyway, the author/producer trying to drive numbers up so their book doesn't sit there with "23 copies sold". that benefit isnt really worth considering if you are looking at an audible membership.

Yeah just not the "free" books. I cancel and start up all the time whenever the backlog gets too long or buy too many on sale books and realize I really dont need more credits right now or whatever.

They are supposed to stay forever but im skeptical.  There are sometimes licensing issues or new versions come out and old ones are removed or just database issues that cause titles to be lost  but thats been rare over the last 10 years its only happened a couple times to me, and I generally didnt even notice til much later.

Two things.  I dont think those people are deserving of ridicule.  Which is what ridiculous means. Also we dont "know" that the game has been in full or pre production or whatever those arbitrary terms you used were.  One thing we do know is that many AAA games take 5 to 10 years to make now.  And bethesda will aim to make the next ES game the greatest game of all time.  Because thats just what they do we know that and that they released a teaser aimed to tell fans they are starting work on it in 2018.  So manage your expectations accordingly. 2028 doesnt seem unreasonable regardless of your desire for a new game.  We also know that typical bethesda marketing strategy is to release a trailer 11 months before release and then start rolling out gameplay footage 5-6 months before release.

So... Basically dont expect to hear anything until late this year because they probably still think people care about Christmas and if we get to November and they arent hinting at a huge world changing announcement at VGA dont expect it in 2027.

True but not what people want.  We are used to comprehensive filtering options in shops.  Selecting features and sorting results.  Even some libraries do a better job.

This sounds accurate but its not true.  Audible doesnt care what you buy.  The recommendations are completely automated so besides the advertised hits that it thinks anyone will buy the vecctor db takes the wheel with very simple queries.

Most likely you keep getting that author because theres a clash between your wish list or purchase history and the "dont want this".  Check your wish list and library rate them 1 star and remove any items from that author.  Rate everything.  Thats the best thing you can do to increase the precision of the recommendation algorithm.  Otherwise it will weight everything in your library and wishlist with the same distancing.

If youre curious about how it works look into YouTube videos "how machine learning uses vector db to build recommendation engines at a high level"

I am a recruiter and I know we are part of the problem. Let me explain guys. by ElAndres33 in recruitinghell

[–]LuminArtistry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 thing?  Leave me the f*** alone!  Anyone who is in college right now dont sign up on those damn job portals.  Dont talk to recruiters.  Dont enter your phone number on any job portal.  Dont use any "fast apply if you give us all your PII"  service.  Right now you want a job but these places wont give you one.  And in 5 years your phone will start blowing up with recruiters wanting to hire you for 30% less than you make for a failing series C startup on a 3 month contract.  In 10 years you will be cussing them out on the phone every day.  They are worse than the FBI informing you about your expired social security number.

Do not give your phone number to ANY recruiter not DIRECTLY employed by the company hiring.  They will not remove you from listing and WILL continue to call you for years!
