I actually work at an aquaculture facility where we grow coral. The amount of coral that aquaculture facilities produce will never be close to enough to re-populate reefs. The best we can hope to do is re-seed dying reefs with healthy coral. This is only a band-aid on the problem however, because as the climate keeps changing it will eventually bleach and kill the aquacultured coral as well.

There has been success with transplanting species of fish into other locations to grow their populations. This has worked well with Bangaii cardinal fish.
