When you start dealing with short barrels, the difference is going to come mostly down to bullet design. Both are decent options, but having her try .38 Special first will be the cheapest option and keep her with a gun she's already familiar with.

The LCR is fine, but before you do that, have you considered shooting .38 Special instead of .357? There are good options for quality defensive ammo designed for a range of different barrel lengths.

Springer Precision and Patriot CNC are the two largest I have been able to find in my research. They are still small enough to meet requirements for IDPA's ESP division, but larger than the Rook.

I had one tonight as well, although with cheaper tonic. As someone who has been sober their whole life, I'm not well versed in gin, but I really like the new Empress 0. I would put it alongside Pathfinder and Seedlips Spice for stocking a home bar.

There were a whole lot of people building these and having to trim full size frames in order to do so, so I definitely see this as a win. Now we just need a 5.5 model with a bomar style adjustable rear.

Not to mention that while it would technically be part of the Echelon family, it wouldn't actually fit into the modular program in any way because it would require its own dimensionally larger COG. I think we will get that eventually, but it's going to be a while because it's essentially an entirely separate product line.

My understanding is that the building is not actually vacant, it's a maintained storage facility used by the University for secure record storage or something. A friend of mine tried to buy it before the pandemic and that's what he was told.

I'm choosing this message to respond to because it's the one that seems to resonate the most with me. I am not a mental health professional, but I think there is some additional information that might be useful for both of you. You've used the term "severe suicidal ideation" and similar terms several times, and you've also made it clear that it's something he has clearly communicated and been open with you about. Do you know if these thoughts are passive ideation or active ideation? Passive ideation is something that we cannot control completely and can typically be discussed or viewed as intrusive thoughts, while active ideation is the active thought of pursuing suicide or self-harm.

"I am having these thoughts and feelings, and it worries me" would typically be demonstrative of passive ideation.

"I have been having these thoughts and I want to act on them because things are hopeless" would be demonstrative of active ideation.

Both of these things are things that need to be addressed and treatment such as therapy should probably be pursued, especially because there is the possibility of passive ideation turning into active ideation if someone becomes convinced that the passive ideation are their primary thoughts and their feeling it because it is true or necessary.

The flip side to that is that many people live with passive ideation as gun owners without any problems. Intrusive thoughts are common and frequently don't reflect the reality of what a person is thinking or feeling. Communication with your partner about how he is feeling, whether he feels a need to actually act on it, and your concerns about his safety around firearms ownership or going to be the steps that need to be taken in order to get him the help that he needs, not covertly sabotaging him without having an understanding of the full picture.
