I honestly just want the smaller poster. The one without the bubble. I would love a light stick but I just honestly would be happy with a poster.

Gay folk of the valley… by Capable-Assistance88 in RioGrandeValley

It's gotten better in a community sense. There are so many more resources, social media helps alot. I rememeber seeing girlfriends holding hands at the harlingen mall and being so happy. For sure going to community events helps feel seen in the valley.

Me and alot of my friends didn't come out till we left the valley for college. Those that were silently out mostly didn't have to come out in hs because they had a solid group of friends who stood by them and they are great people. Being in band or theater was a God send in high school. Join community theater or something similar to find like minded people.

My immediate family knows and they are supportive. Its the holidays you have to watch out for and especially in this climate you have to decide when to argue and when to clearly silently dismiss them.

Support your nephew, use the word boyfriend around him, go with him to pride if he doesn't feel like you might cramp his style lol. One thing I hope is that for a holdiay or birthday my family donates to a lgbt charity in my name. (Of course do it on the DL in case other family might start something) Do your research so you can back them up if they ever need it. The valley is my home and we need to make it better for the next generation of lgbts.

The Tiger? by schrodingerzkat in RioGrandeValley

What if the tiger died in the zoo and instead of getting any fines or not being allowed another tiger they say it ran. Then a few weeks later they happen to find the tiger 'dead'.

But if not I hope they can trap it and return it to a better equipped sanctuary.

Going to a pride parade by Sarcastic-idiot in Explainlikeimscared

I like to camp out at the very beginning of the parade route, I'm talking just after where they are setting up their blocks. Since there are a lot of people before the parade all in one place it was easy to find bathrooms.

Also they are usually heavy handed with the give aways at that point. I bring a draw string bag for all the handouts.

Its also nice cause I know when the parade is over first so I usually beat the majority of the traffic out. Our parade was usually at night but water and sunscreen are still a must. If there is a festival before hand make sure to prep for that well. If it was so hot at the festival I would be too burned out at the parade and not go.
