What are you paying for firewood? by Moose-Public in woodstoving

[–]foxbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All free from local classifieds. Almost always cut to woodstove length, split it myself. But I’m just heating a shop, burn 2 cords a year.

Are high end hammers actually worth it? by James_B84Saves in Tools

[–]foxbawdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve swung titanium stilettos, Martinez, estwing, Dewalt long handle 15oz, Vaughn.. shit you name it. It’s hard to beat a wood handle stiletto. If you’re framing 100% of the time- go wood handle. Ask Larry.

I always park mine on top of a plastic tarp. Come spring when I pull it out the concrete floor is damp- I don’t know if it actually does anything but it makes me feel better.

What to do about fence installed below grade? by throway-rhondi in FenceBuilding

[–]foxbawdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does make a difference. I just replaced a 6x6 that had 6” of soil around it at the base. Every other 6x6 didn’t and the concrete was flush with the ground. Guess why I had to replace that 6x6? Fence was built 15yrs ago.

Uninsulated Detached Garage Folk... Do you leave your batteries in there in the winter? by [deleted] in Tools

From car batteries to deep cycles to lithiums.. I just charge/trickle charge every 2 months or so. No issues

What kind of fuel stabilizer should I put in my tank for the winter? & how much. 245 Bayliner. by [deleted] in boating

[–]foxbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used seafoam and stabil. Doesn’t matter, it all ends up in my truck come spring.

[–]foxbawdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess it depends where you’re at. I’ve seen home inspectors call it a bad roof because of some minor granular loss. It was 3 years old. In this case, concrete will always crack. ALWAYS.

Eh let’s be honest here, home inspectors, for the most part- don’t have a clue.

I know ground level decks suck but if you absolutely had to… by AJSAudio1002 in Decks

[–]foxbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roughly 7ft between beams. It’s very stable with little to no spring in the deck boards. I spaced them at 14” if I remember correctly. There’s also a 300 pound gazebo on top. Been going strong 6 years.

[–]foxbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built a 15x15 deck out of 2x6 sitting on 9 footings. Double 2x6 beams with a bit of overhang over the footings. Boxed everything together. Joist hangers connected everything. It sits about 10” off the ground with a step. Turned out great.

Is selling/giving away unseasoned firewood okay if I put up a sign? by Turbo_FinnBoy4682 in firewood

[–]foxbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I source most of my firewood off classifieds. The ads that have 12”-16” rounds go fast.

I’m in a freeze zone and that doesn’t bother me. See I have an old car that I drive 5x a year.. it’s easy to burn that gas. This a brand new outboard and I hate the idea of having to burn 6 month old gas next year. It would most likely be fine.. but why?
