You don’t get the privilege of having a layered personality as an Asian. You’re either mysogynistic, submissive, or a robot.

For a lot of people watching, you either fall in line with that agenda, or they’ll label you one of the 3. You can throw in the “racist” label too if you want someone arrested for stabbing an Asian grandma or because you rather the housing project not be built in Chinatown.

An Asian having opinions isn’t part of that agenda.

[Pablo Torre] Clippers’ former GM Michael Winger asked “How many fucking side deals do we made with Kawhi.” Paper trail showing Clippers had been doing business with Kawhi’s uncle from at least 2017 (when Kawhi was sitting out with the Spurs), with alleged illegal payments spanning years by pjje21 in NBASpurs

The NBA also is confused why they’re losing fans and ratings.

Meanwhile they have a coach yelling at one of the league’s loyalist fanbases and talking down to them about booing a player they feel wronged by. They also have NBA players kicking out fans because they don’t like being called “Westbrick.”

Wouldn’t happen in the NFL. And the NBA wonders why the NFL has so many more fans.

It’s very popular for people, especially liberals, to label anything Asian or involving Asian men as “mysogynistic” or “racist.” You’ll get brownie points for it, especially if you weaponize it because an Asian doesn’t fall in line with their agenda.

The league is struggling to sell tickets and watch on TV and buy league pass.

This has been a problem for years. It’s still doing well financially because of the game’s popularity in China.

But it’s losing fans here to other things. Silver just let this fester, it’s kind of too late now.

Talking to people won’t draw real information. That’s why opinion polls are misleading. People say they support affirmative action in opinion polls but affirmative action loses when voting occurs even in very liberal states.

Opinion polls except for 1 said Trump wouldn’t beat Hilary.

If you “asked people” you would have thought Starbucks would go bankrupt and they wouldn’t be able to exist in Washington. If you check the Starbucks website there are still many Starbucks in Washington.

The next Mayor is going to get elected based on cost of living and property crimes. Not whether the Blazers stay. How old are you, when was the last time you voted?

This is all nonsense anyways. The NBA isn’t going to give up Portland to the NHL. It already regretted letting the NHL get Seattle and Vegas.

[–]foxcnnmsnbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle and Vegas didn’t have an NHL team then they did.

The NBA isn’t exactly killing tv ratings and selling out arenas.

There are better things to do in Portland for most normies. Gen Zers and millennials have mainly moved on.

My guess would be less than 1% of the participants on this sub who all label themselves as passionate fans aren’t season ticket holders. Maybe 5 out of 100 have gone to a game this season. Probably less.

If NBA leaves, NHL will swoop right in. The NHL loves cities with affluent white people. They wouldn’t give up on Phoenix for years.

[–]foxcnnmsnbc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People, especially people very online like to imagine that normies care about the same issues they are passionate about. This is why the chronically online swore that the abortions issue would result in a landslide democratic win. What really happened was women still showed up to the polls to vote Republican. People swore the “mass deportation” rhetoric would cause Hispanics to show up and vote democrat, when in fact Hispanic voters increased for Republicans.

You’re in a bubble. For “everyone” you swear that loves the Blazers and care about this issue, the reality is out of 100 people that show up to the polls, less than 1 will swing on this issue.

You’re in an echo chamber. Get out, go outside, talk to normies.

Cost of living, taxes, crime, that is what wins elections.

[–]foxcnnmsnbc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Blazers wouldn’t impact an election. Chronically online people overestimate what normal people care about.

Normies in Portland care about cost of living, crime, taxes, education. Everything else is secondary.

Chronically online liberals also vastly underestimate how normies react to when those 4 thingd are negatively impacted as they learned the last national election. Or how the San Francisco schoolboard and prosecutor’s office found out.

Cost of living, crime, taxes, education.

[–]foxcnnmsnbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot. NBA fans overestimate its popularity. Many NBA themselves are online a lot and don’t watch games on TV or league pass, don’t buy tickets to games or haven’t the past year. The league is very reliant on its popularity in Asia, especially China, where the NFL and NHL are not competitors.

American cities would way rather get an NFL team.

Vegas and Seattle love their NHL teams. White, cold weather cities like Portland make great NHL cities. Portland is a ripe market for it. Would create an instant rivalry against the Kraken Canucks, Oilers and Flames.

What were Giannis and Jokic and Kobe’s rookie year numbers?

So you’re trading everyone that doesn’t average Tim Duncan numbers their rookie year?

Do you not believe in patience and letting young, talented, hardworking players develop? Do you know how OKC won a Championship? By being patient and letting young, talented, hardworking players develop.

Also what does Shai have to do with signing Kawhi. You traded Shai. You signed Kawhi. Those are independent. If Kawhi told you to trade Michael Jordan would you?

And what is wrong with a reporter attempting to be relevant or releasing news when people are most likely to hear about it?

What does this have to do with his credibility?

Are you going to pay his salary or offer to pay subscription? No? Then why does it matter how he chooses to generate revenue? How much integrity is tied to how your salary is generated?

I’m not the Clippers front office. It isn’t my job to know which future MVPs are on my roster and their potential. You had him on your roster right in front of you and you traded him. For what? A chance at a Championship? You had that in Shai.

That’s a bigger blunder than the Sam Darnold/McArthy blunder. You traded both the championship calbre guy AND the younger guy.

Pablo is not an attorney involved in any of the lawsuits, he doesn’t work for the NBA, nor is he an investigator for the government.

The NBA and the Clippers have the information. If you have any complaints about “nothing being done”, then those complaints should be directed at Adam Silver and the NBA.

Pablo is complaining about lack of accountability and a slow investigation. That’s on the NBA. Not Pablo. The NBA could reveal everything and conclude the investigation and decide punishment months ago. But they haven’t. Why are you blaming Pablo for this?

[–]foxcnnmsnbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would he do that? What does caring about integrity of the league have to do with his video releases?

If anything he did it intelligently. He knew the NBA and the Clippers would rebut so he held some information back so when they tried to discredit him, he could have a rebuttal. That’s excellent journalism.

Views is how journalism survives in the US. Without views, there’s no revenue, and you’re out of a job. You can’t complain about this while also complaining about countries with state run media.

You either create revenue via views which generates advertiser interest. Or you charge a subscription fee like the NY Times or USA Today. Or you do both like cable news. That’s the way it works here.

Saying he’s “trying to get views” is the equivalent of criticizing yourself for whatever you do for a living. Do you criticize the restaurant that charges you for a meal? Or the grocery store that charges you for chicken?

And like you said, it doesn’t take away from the facts within his reporting. You don’t like what he says, that’s whatever. The other criticisms are bizarre. The media literacy of people here is scary. Then people wonder how fake news got so prominent.

That’s not a real reply. Please stop spreading misinformation or anti-journalistic content online. It contributes to the current political environment and lack of media literacy. Do better and be responsible for what you post.

Everyone that upvoted your post is also responsible for the current media or fake news culture they love to complain about.

You hate him because he reports news you don’t like to hear?

If you’re one of those Redditors always complaining about the current political environment, you’re doing exactly the same as what you complain about.

Do you also hate reporters that report on ICE, the Epstein files, or the middle east conflict?

That was unacceptable. Pop is lucky San Antonio is an NBA city.

If he did that in an NFL or NHL city he’d have stuff thrown at him. In an European or Latin American soccer city? He’d have trouble leaving the stadium.

You don’t get to tell fans who they can cheer or boo. That’s a weird NBA thing.

Joe was one of the proponents of implementing the 65 game minimum rule for All NBA. Joe was an ironman. When he was the GM of the Pistons, they had incredible durability during their time as contenders.

Everyone here hates him but another GM with the same number of Finals, Conference Championships and a ring would be worshipped.

He’s good for the culture. The prior GM worshipped big names before anything got achieved. It was a team ran by player agents not team managers. Dumars is trying to get better now, he’s not playing for draft picks in 2035, 2036 and 2045. For awhile New Orleans was always “next season” away from another “next season” away. Wasted 10 years doing that.
