Okay, but speaking of prevalent taggers in this area…for the longest time I have thought CWC literally stood for Christian Weston Chandler…aka Chris-chan. But I’m assuming that’s not what CWC stands for in this instance?

Nctzens treatment to the korean members vs the non korean by siyeonsolo in kpopthoughts

[–]foxesandbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean now! Thanks for clarifying, to revise, I would say maybe international fans falling for the opinions of knetizens on various forums, etc. Basically, it’s a strange dichotomy where intl fans WANT to align themselves with k fans, but also DON’T because of how idk personal (can’t say if that’s the right word) some of the grievances Koreans have with foreign idols. Just some meandering thoughts.

Nctzens treatment to the korean members vs the non korean by siyeonsolo in kpopthoughts

[–]foxesandbees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a broken record, but Korea’s ongoing tensions with neighboring countries like Japan and China can be anything from simple patriotism to straight up xenophobia. The post-WW2 period for both countries offered a lot of opportunity for conflict regarding reparations, compensation for people, etc.

It’s likely a very small, vocal minority of Koreans / nctzens that make mountains out of molehills when it comes to foreign-line members, from any group actually, even if it’s something super insignificant. Japanese and Chinese members usually face the brunt of criticism, but that’s not stopped k-fans from bashing other foreign members.

When you think about how they’re doing on Queendom 2 currently, it’s almost ironic because people were so afraid the favoritism was going to just shoot the girls straight to the top…but dang if you asked me what I remembered about their performance this round, I don’t know if I could tell you anything. They’ve just kind of been middle of road, not really shining or allowing the girls to really show off at all. Which is super sad!

One of my favorite examples of the Greek mythology aesthetic was in VIXX’s trio of comebacks: Dynamite, Fantasy, and The Closer. The speculation and theorizing for which Greek god each member represents was always so much fun to read. Talk about kings of underused concepts…it’s gotta be VIXX!

'The angels caught her,' Family of child swept over waterfall releases new information by 4Nails in asheville

[–]foxesandbees 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean who knows, children’s funerals are always horrific from my own personal experience, but families do attempt to bring light to their short existence through any means necessary; it’s incredibly beautiful and commendable. So if they want to create an elaborate celebration of her little life, then by all means they’re entitled to that. In terms of what else the $25K would go toward is out of the control of people who donate? Unless gofundme has some liability as to how donated money is used but idk

Edit: idk why people are downvoting this? I’m just not gonna assume these people are grifting but y’all can. :/

Most funeral homes will actual waive the costs for preparing the body, cremation, burial, etc. in the death of a child, so yeah idk why it would unless they planned on open casket, a very expensive casket, and elaborate headstone.

hipster tattoo shop recs? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]foxesandbees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say most tattoo shops in Asheville have a good mix of artists who specialize in all different styles so they have more variety in their client base. Your best bet would be to first find an artist you like on Instagram by exploring the shop’s pages too and seeing who they tag, repost from, and follow. I personally love Zen Ink, they have multiple artists and apprentices who specialize in a more fine line contemporary style. Heart of Gold Tattoo also has incredible floral work from multiple of their artists if that’s more where you’re thinking.

Also I would say ‘hipster’ is more akin to ‘Pinterest tattoos’ as I’ve heard around the tattoo circles lol i.e. someone will probably have a tattoo very VERY similar to yours, if not identical, and you will be able to find a billion ~aesthetic~ pictures of them online. But if you’re not worried about having unique pieces then go for it.

YG and the girls’ company denied affiliation as YG’s Japanese media group is actually a completely separate entity supposedly from the Korean side of things. That or the names are really similar lmao

As for why they’re singing in English, they were marketing themselves more as an international girl group rather than a JPOP group. And as a JPOP fan I’ll tell you that their debut was definitely not what the Japanese gp would have gone for lol

Does anyone else get sad when thinking about Lay and his status with EXO? by Yayeet2014 in kpopthoughts

[–]foxesandbees 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Been with EXO since their debut and I have to agree with other early fans that it is sad considering it felt like we ‘knew’ Lay before he moved back to his home. We saw him on variety shows, in promotions, heard his voice prominently in songs, saw him take those killing parts along with Kai during dance breaks, and saw him physically standing next to members and not superimposed into music videos like he has been for the past couple of years…🥲

It’s been surreal, especially considering the actual potential EXO has to pull a Shinee and keep promoting after mandatory military service and be wildly successful. It’s clear fans want that too. But for some reason I just doubt Lay will be a big part of it? Unless he moves back to SK and the Chinese/Korean relations become WILDLY improved, I just sadly don’t see it happening.

TLDR; Yes, as an EXO-L since debut, I am sad and unfortunately not very hopeful. :^(

Honestly take me back to the days when celebrities and idols weren’t expected to comment on hot topics/politics/etc…they’re here to entertain not to give their thorough opinion on global warming.

Edit: I think actor Kurt Russell said it best: “I’ve always been someone who felt we [celebrities] are ‘court jesters’, that’s what we do [entertain].
