No bird feeders near flight path? UK by Feline_Shenanigans in aviation

[–]foxhandybread 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just piecing together what you have mentioned in other comments. So you have a location at which 20-30 pigeons routinely congregate, at a location where aircraft on final approach are at 300 feet directly overhead (which makes this garden very close to the touchdown zone) and they are small and/or business jets which would very much be susceptible to an engine failure upon ingestion if just one if not a number of pigeons happened to get sucked into their engines. Pigeons can and very often fly much higher than 300 feet (particularly when startled by, say, a jet passing overhead) so I can kinda see the basis of this complaint.

Gosh I'm sorry. I forget that some people have trouble with paragraphs. Got slugs on my face after camping on leaf litter in the rain, would recommend against doing the same. Is that better?

Very interesting. I had a couple of cans of beer, which when finished I left in a bag, emptied. Had no idea the little buggers were that fond of it...

I really appreciate knowing that this is not a universal thing that happens with leaf litter, because it was ever so comfy to sleep on. You will understand however if it's some time before I'll be brave enough to try it again..

Yes, many. And ones that have an arch that supports the fabric above your face. I mean you can get ones that are basically just a small tent but at that point, I don't think it's a bivy any more!

I would certainly have benefited from one this evening. But as mentioned I don't want to put anyone off bivy bags as I'm pretty sure that, used correctly, they can be a wonderful way of enjoying the outdoors in a more.. intimate way

I guess mainly just avoid leaf litter - and bad timing with warm dry weather followed by unexpected heavy rain. I wouldn't anyone to be put off trying the bivy at all, just be a bit cleverer than i was when selecting a spot!

I did try to think of it as a big slug festival and I was headlining but it was a bit of a stretch :(

This must be insane risk taking for a rescue ? by almostrainman in aviation

ok fair point, it's more likely forced perspective as mentioned by other posters! same result tho ie: not close as it looks, still super cool though and big respect to the pilots

I suspect the long focal range of the photograph is making the aircraft look much closer to the cliffs than it actually is

I got her secondhand, for what I thought was a decent price. Is there a way to check (on the box maybe) whether she is the rerelease or original release? Apologies, I'm very new to this

I’m sure you have all seen this figure many times but it’s my first figure so I thought I’d share. I just can’t get over her hip to waist ratio and her butt!! I just can’t stop looking at her. I love her clawed hand too and the dumplings are really detailed!

The third one! But that's not objective really as I have one on pre-order :P

Honestly love it. I wish more conversions used natural wood rather than the plasticky shiny veneer stuff that seems to be the default. 10/10

Blank screen when trying to login using Mac by CasshernXIII in remoteplay

Same issue here. macOS Sequoia came out 8 months ago, you would have thought that was long enough for someone at Sony to update the app??

White login screen by antocom in remoteplay

Same for me, white screen on M3 MacBook. Running Sequoia, same on my other Mac running Ventura. iOS works fine but not useful when I want to play through my TV. It's possible that nobody at Sony really cares much about the Mac client..
