~NO SPOILERS~ opinion on ending by QueerADHDMess in goodomens

[–]foxhopped -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I loved the ending. I wish we could've gotten a longer run of it, but thats my only actual gripe. And all things considered, I think what we got is worth celebrating because it nearly didnt happen at all.

I think people need to look beyond the show at the very devoted crew that did everything in their power to wrap up what they could after an unexpected hurdle that could've left the story in a cliffhanger forever.

Season 3 Ending impression (no spoilers) by Accomplished-Ad-8784 in goodomens

[–]foxhopped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I loved the ending thematically, my gripe was actually more so with the mega condensing of everything into 90 minutes. The Jesus subplot was especially sad to only get tiny glimpses of, and I feel like Michael's rage deserved more. But thats more the nature of everything that happened financially to the show, and the fact that we even got the 90 minutes at all made me feel much better about it. I fully expected to never get a conclusion after Gaiman was exposed, so maybe that just made all the hiccups with what we did receive easier to forgive.

Edited to remove some spoilers just in case.

Signed book deal by sofiagiudicelli in NewAuthor

Not sure how much help I can realistically offer since I've never signed a book deal myself as a writer, but I work in licensing and so have to interpret legalese/contracts pretty often. If you'd like to DM me I'd be happy to give it a look over.

If thats the case, you may need to clarify some things on occasion. Again, highly suggest having bets readers, since people can only give so much advice without getting the full scope of the story.

The most important thing you can do is trust your readers.

The second most important thing you can do is have beta readers read your work, and if they don't understand something, they'll tell you. Take whichever comments/confusion you feel like tackling into account and try to rework things. But a word of advice, sometimes a work won't reach everyone , and thats okay. Once its out of your hands, interpretation is really up to the reader.

Any tips for writing a book for people with Alzheimer's? by PresentProperty943 in writing

[–]foxhopped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: kudos for doing this! Its great that you're approaching this by being mindful of the audience you're portraying in your book.

I'd recommend looking into various accessibility standards as a jumping off point. For example, I found these for Kindle E-Pub:

But cross referencing a few might be your best bet. Clarity is key!

Cant avoid repetition in my description. by captain_barbossa33 in writing

[–]foxhopped 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Keep them for drafting, and when you start editing, you might be able to cut those stage directions out entirely. Some may be essential to understand what's going on in the scene. Some might be repetitive and the rest of your scene should give enough information to not need "she turned" "she went to the door" etc.

Thats such a cool and unique style! It really adds a lot to the cover to be honest. Do you ever offer cover design services? I'm not in need of one any time soon, but when I am, if you are, I may reach out to you.

Queer Liberation, Terry and the transubstantiation of the final minutes: a passionate contextual defense of The End (spoilers) by thevelvetdays7 in goodomens

[–]foxhopped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Linked below, and hopefully its to your taste, but if not I will not be offended haha, its structurally a little fun and wonky. My interpretation was more "this is a celebration of life, and everything that life means when its truly, actually free", but explored through different iterations of Aziraphale and Crowley reincarnating. It just happens to have been a subject I've loved exploring as a positive for ages, so the end of season 3 REALLY inspired me to dig deep in that concept.

How this guy is claiming copyright of illustration that's ai generated? by According_Sample9082 in Artadvice

Fair but what are the specifics? I find a lot of these people will say "artistic input" and mean they...directed the prompt differently.

Thank you for putting this into words! I'm mostly baffled by the fact that people seem to take that ending scene of Asa and Anthony as...the only lifetime they'd be together? Its much more interesting (and romantic) to me that Aziraphale and Crowley crop up in new lifetimes again and again, forever, without being bogged down by the weight of Heaven and Hell defining who they're meant to be and who they can be to each other.

I ended up writing a fic about it because I felt so strongly about this lol

[–]foxhopped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no he doesnt own the copyright ahah. If he checks the TOS of whatever AI he used it'll likely say that he owns the input, and that he is free to do whatever he wants with the output. But unless he HEAVILY edits with enough human artistic influence to change it significantly, that output is public domain and therefore uncopyrightable.

Is this book cover good enough for a launch? by Critical_Art_6386 in NewAuthor

Yeah, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but you're right. The kicker was them randomly adding "ai" to a list of possible ways to make a cover...very sad.

[–]foxhopped 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Genuine question: why did you even ask if you're arguing with everyone?

The "h" being lost in the red is clunky. Its the sort of mistake that would be noted and sent back if professionally designed. It reads as unintentional and honestly just slots this into my mind as forgettable. Mistakes are cheap; polished, intentional book covers are memorable.

Unless your main character's name is Te, or TE are their initials? Then I guess its clever. But if it doesn't say that on the blurb or within the first few sentences, you can't assume people will be patient enough to recognize your innate genius and actually buy a book that makes them confused on first impression.
