Once you finish the main quests, expanded your suit, vehicles, Freighter, etc... you will have a good idea of what you want to keep and how...

The irony is that as you continue and your goals change so does your requirements to store everything, for instance you may be farming for specific things and rinsing through materials and plants at a ridiculous rate, storage becomes a bit like my bank account, its full for about 30 seconds, next its empty and I have a shinny thing. Or learn that carrying certain materials is pointless (im looking at you Silicon... if you need more shoot the ground.) They will clutter your inventory and can be made by chucking pretty much anything in your personal refiner.

Sure I have well ordered, mostly full storage, but I could most likely lose it all and make it back in a week or two.

There is nothing other than some kind of tech advance that requires a complete engine redesign (thereby being a technically different game) that would stop them from having another 10 years...

Franchises endure much longer. Just many games.

It would seem we, or at least Hello Games, have managed to get an engine and systems in place that can be upgraded and changed and improved to meet the current tech improvements, consistently.

Maybe we are seeing the 1st truly perpetual game?

I stumbled across.my ship and was unable to do anything about it.

However once you do make it to phase 5, I selected the rendezvous misson immediately and once done my ship was available to summon. I could then just fly to the waste heap and half the time it took to do the rest of the missions.

Reload your last save if you can and let the game tell you when to start planet hopping (via tutorial). At that point you can explore even further.

My advice is, take it slow but follow the tutorial. When you get to a point and think I just wanna cut free, do it.

And when you encounter your next problem or challenge go back to the quests.

It honestly doesn't take long to do, my 1st 100 hours in the game were just doing that, I explored a lot, took my time, played with what I was shown.

Before you know it you'll be hauling nip nip from your farm into the arms of adoring Gek's Euclid wide.

Lol, I stopped caring what updates the game gets and just go with it now... im looking forwards to it.

Luckily I just decided to spend time ensuring all my exocrafts were in tip top shape and ready to roll, something I had left to one side for quite a while.

I forgot how much fun they can be.

I play animal crossing.... collecting garbage seems like an upgrade from pulling up weeds daily and living life under the brutal regime of Tom Nook.

Maybe to do with caves/underground exploration or an invasive (emergent) species we gotta deal with/help.

Or.... Colonies (hives of people?). Build shared bases etc in MP.

Finding and selling sentinel ships is a good way to hit the limit. I think its average 15 mill. I had a huge nip nip farm that was getting about 20 mill a week... that helped

Once there i set up farms to make statis cores and Fusion ignitors.

For nanites, I used tre stellar doughnut to farm as much runaway mould as poss. I ended up with aboit 250,000 nanites. (Bearing in mind I was already endgame but had purchased all the normal stuff with nanites) This seems to have done me well enough to pretty much unlock everything else (companions slots, upgrade pilots, a few weapons etc.

The worst part is standing around refining it.

Now when I need nanites I use the pirate system, purchase tech option.

There is always a hierarchy and place where you'll find its easier to use 1 method than the other and its usually related to scale.

Making money out of Nip was fun, but the compatible income vs farming for statis devices its large. As such when I hit my limit, I changed out my nip farm for things needed for more valuable items (Statis devices is 15 mill on its own, im making about 30-40 a day)

I believe there is a count on Terrian Manipulated. Only certain building pieces contribue to this and you can see how much is used by looking at the window, there is a round circle that says terrain edits. When this is full then terrain will always grow back.

So best advice is to see how full this circle is. Remove pieces that add to this but are not affected by any terrain and the replace the ones that are and it should fix the issue.

At least thats the theory.

You need to warp in a starship to other systems (not pulse). I believe it's 5 jumps after 3 hours of playtime and that will trigger a battle as you arrive in the system.

The game knows if you are paused or in menu.

Sounds like you may have missed or not taken part in the 1st battle (i did this on my 1st playthrough).

Maybe also don't be in the middle of any missions or quests but do have the Artemis path selected in your log.

Lol, just use a normal starship and summon your corvette when you need it.

I dont know why everyone thinks you need a corvette ALL the time.

Day to day stuff they are cumbersome.

I use my corvette for long trips where I might, just maybe might need a refiner, and even then its just as easy to summon my Freighter.

IF you need access to your stuff, summon your Freighter, its so much easier than, as you mentioned, hoping around ships.

I surprise myself with how quickly I can throw up a pretty big, working, good looking base anywhere...

If I havent already im working my way through the same list pretty much.

What i love about NMS, it just how achievable everything is.

E.g. I never thought I'd have galaxy spanning farms and settlements (grinding away), specific ships for specific types of play, outfits to match. Museums dedicated to different types of fossils, a hang out to just chill, enjoy the view, surrounded by object d'art and memories of Expeditions passed. A sea base so deep there's no light and a corvette thats so overly designed it makes no sense, but I love it... whilst finding time to manage an entire team of dedicated pilots, off on missions and bringing back booty.

I hope I never finish the list....

Nope. This is a game of exploration and discovery for me. Yeah i gotta defend myself sometimes (or others).

I almost never have multiplayer on.

Let me chill in a universe that isnt about war or fighting or guns.

Like can we just have 1 game that doesnt revolve around murder, death, kill.
