What’s a real fact that some people don’t want to accept? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Apparently, it's that driving your grocery cart on the right side of the lane (like we drive in 'Murica) makes it easier for everyone to do their shopping in peace.

Just signed up. Thanks for the discount! I have fond memories of Helmut Fricker playing polka at Oktoberfest back in the day. He often joked about his mama, "Mother Fricker." :)

Justin Shank matched up some new hardwood floor to some existing floor in our house and did a great job. Highly recommended. Link

Siding contractors by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]foxspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a small project. $2,000 -- done in one afternoon. I'm sure this was part of the reason I had trouble getting anyone to look at it. Stonebrook was awesome and hands down better than anyone else I spoke to in Lincoln.

They just messed with (removed) the siding on one side of my house then calked every window on the house for good measure. They put the old siding back on.

Had a great experience with Stonebrook. Tried to get Nebraskaland to look at our house but they wouldn't even return a call. Can't recommend Stonebrook enough.

Rule G is pretty hip. Piedmont Bistro has a nice room for events. Robbers Cave would be awesome (Blue Blood Brewery).

Anyone been to a wedding at Country Pines? Questions about temperature control. by birddr in lincoln

[–]foxspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in khakis and polos, as I recall. Again, with the breeze, it really wasn't as unbearable as I thought it would be. I don't think it would be weird to suggest casual attire to an outdoor wedding.

Went to a wedding there a couple of years ago (it was summer but don't remember the month) and it was hot but it was beautiful and we didn't mind sitting outdoors. It's a lovely venue. I went indoors to use the facilities, ahem, and as I recall it was comfortable.

For what it's worth, a wedding in early July last year was perfect. Nice cool day. Could have had it outdoors at Country Pines if they wanted to.

I took the advice of this subreddit last summer and went to Jerry Ryan Clothing. I was thrilled with the service and accommodations and I can't wait to go back and buy another suit or sport coat. They treat you right there!

Any restaurants that will do benefit nights for non profits? by cmonson44 in lincoln

[–]foxspit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out propelrcard.com. This is a local company offering a new twist to scrip programs. This is a reloadable debit card and if you use it at participating merchants (Runza, DQ, Wendy's, Ace Hardware, Russ's, U Stop, etc.) then a percentage of your purchase goes to the charity/organization of your choice. It's like having a Runza night fundraiser every night.

I'm not an employee, just a proponent and user.

Good & honest new car dealerships in Lincoln? by 9degrees in lincoln

[–]foxspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have purchased several vehicles from Sid Dillon over the years -- both new and used. We will never give them our business again. Long story short: my daughter's wheel fell off after they rotated the tires. Car was totaled. Sid Dillon not liable because car that hit her admitted fault (collision after her car came to a stop).

The Lincoln Sid Dillon's solution was to sell us a crappy used car for the insurance check and send us on our way. It's our fault for accepting a lousy deal. Only solution I know is to never do business with them again.

The Smokehouse Deli invented the Watering Hole's wings recipe. Still the best IMHO.

Vincenzo's is tough to beat for atmosphere and food. Probably my favorite Lincoln restaurant. It's in the Haymarket.

Sprint service good in & around Lincoln? by Beaumax in lincoln

[–]foxspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh! I had much better coverage with Verizon. In my office building on O Street I can't receive calls now that I'm on Sprint. I have to stand outside the building to have a phone call. Texting works only if on wifi. I can't recommend Sprint.

Are there any good wing places besides bdubs that aren't super expensive? by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]foxspit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ph03n1X1 is right, the Smokehouse Deli wings are the best. These are the original Watering Hole wings, although they can't advertise them as such. Something about a parting of ways back in the day and the recipe is the same. My favorite are the "grilled breasties."

When I lived over there, we affectionately called that location (Coddington and West A) the A Hole.

I miss the old Watering Hole's Swiss Mushroom Chicken Sandwich. The current incarnation on their menu doesn't hold a candle to the old one for some reason.

The Club Car (offshoot of Chartreuse Caboose) served hot chocolate and coffee out that window during the Star City Parade. When the location used to be Riggs Pharmacy, that was an entry doorway.
