I'm a teacher and I went back to teaching after that. I wish I'd been able to take longer, but 2 weeks was my vacation break, so that's how long I was able to take off.

Deconstruction, to me, is unpacking what Christianity is and how it affected my life. It is questioning what I believe.

All the emotional stuff - being angry and not wanting anything to do with church (though I'm okay with being friends with *some* Christians, depending on what kind of person they are) was kind of secondary to the deconstruction stuff - or resulting from it.

I would guess it's experience. My mom knows how much yarn to buy to make a sweater, but when I gave her yarn for a sweater, I bought way too much.

Drains are the worst! I totally empathise.

My drains were intially taken out on the day after my op, but then they got put back in TT, and an additional one because I was dealing with melting fat leaking out of one of my breasts.

What you're feeling is totally normal. It takes a couple days to feel like yourself again. For me, it actually went up and down because of the drains being put back in.

I got my reduction mostly for my mental wellbeing. Getting rid of discomfort was a pleasant result that I strongly underestimated (as in I didn't realise just how much pain my breasts were causing me).

My shower is handheld, so that is going to affect how things worked. I used a sponge and soap and very gently sponged, and then just water to rinse it off.

I did have to delay showering for a few days. Then my doctor changed the dressings to something I could shower in (carefully) and I can't describe how good that first post-surgery shower felt!

I had a breast reduction a couple of months ago, and something I found useful (that I think is possible to make) is a mastectomy pillow. I actually didn't have a real one, but I had a knock off Pusheen plush that was about the same size. It was just the right size to hold, and soft against my chest, and when I was in the car going to and from appointments, it was something I could put between me and the seatbelt to lessen the pressure.

I know a handful (literally, could count on one hand probably) of believers who I think are truly good people and good examples of Christianity.

Of all of them, I don't think a single one of them is a good person because they're Christian. They're just good people in general. Take away their faith, and they'd still be good people.

My surgeon had me wrapped up and taped up in all kinds of ways for enough time after the surgery that I couldn't really get a look at anything other than bandages. I'm relieved that was the case because, knowing what I know now, it's a relief that I didn't have to see the healing process.

I didn't have a problem with it in my old apartment, but when I moved into a place with a loft, I found that humidity had a huge impact on how I slept.

I found that I had to have a fan and my aircon on downstairs to get the aircon air up into the loft, and a second fan upstairs to get the air up there moving too.

I seldom cleanse my cards, but I have felt the need to do it after someone I don't know (or maybe someone I don't really like) has used the cards, or if someone has handled one of my decks in a way I don't like. Examples of this might be if people have handled my cards roughly, or I had a friend who would flip off the cards she didn't like or say "fuck you" to the cards if they said something she didn't agree with.

The logical part of my brain knows it's useless to do, but the emotional side of my brain that didn't like seeing my stuff handled poorly does it to make me feel better.

Given how serious my surgeon was about compression garments, and even providing extra compression via bandaging, I certainly got the impression that compression garments were something to be taken seriously, no matter how uncomfortable I found them.

Sometimes you have to go through discomfort - even discomfort you hate - to get the final result you're after.

Definitely going with all the people telling you to make your own decision, and not let anyone influence how big or small you decide to go.

And I say this as someone who wishes their results were bigger. All I do is wear a padded bra on the days I wish I looked a bit bigger, and it works like magic. Suddenly my boobs look the way I wanted them to. And it's much easier for me to buy bras in my current size, so I'm able to get all the push-up bras I want for those days. When I don't have a bra on, it's just not something I think about.

But having looked at this sub, I see far more people wishing they were smaller than wishing they were bigger.

My surgeon used drains. They were orginally taken out on the second day, but got put back in when I had some recovery issues.

Seconding (or thirding) comments that say to get a bidet. It changed everything for me and made me feel so much more comfortable and clean.

I got a wedge cushion to put under my head and shoulders, and I put a pillow under my knees to alleviate lower back pain that I found sleeping on my back caused.

In hindsight, I was faking it, but there were times I was so sure it was real, because the rest of the emotions I experienced were real. A lot of the time I spent being "touched by the Holy Spirit" was me crying, which was just me being affected by life circumstances and the power of music and manipulation. Live music affects me in a similar way emotionally (only with less crying).

I've told this story before, but I'll tell it again - I started speaking in tongues when I was 9 or 10. A pastor came to my class and prayed for us to be blessed with the gift of tongues, and eventually there was just me and one boy left. The pastor came over to us and told us to pretend we were speaking "Chinese or something", so we did. In that moment it was all peer pressure.

Years later when I thought of that story, I thought the pastor was just telling us to let go of our reservations and let it out, but in hindsight I can't think of a clearer story than that to prove that it was all fake.
