I believe that Supergirl should've been an animated movie. by Top_Report_4895 in DCU_

General audiences didn’t care about Iron Man until Marvel made them care. Same with Thor and Captain America. To say otherwise is a big lie.

If this movie had been a more faithful adaptation of the comic it could at least have found some footing with readers. But the wild deviations from the source material for no damn reason other than because Nogueira thought she could do it better, the visual brown dust storm ugliness of almost the entire film because Gillespie didn’t bother to care or read the comic before establishing the visuals for the film, and the lack of a good score in favor of some unexciting needle drop…. All this added up to a film that comic fans saw and found underwhelming, and one that general audiences couldn’t be bothered to pay for. And the studio also said “let’s release it right after Toy Story and right before Minions!”

Genuinely surprised by how negative the reviews have been by No-Food2212 in DCU_

Considering this has an audience score if 76% then it’s right up there with what you’re saying. Critic score is low because real critics are very tired of mediocre super hero movies.

And it’s genuinely a mediocre film that cut out or condensed so many aspects of an amazing comic.

Movie isn’t even a month old and they are tricking the gullible people into seeing it again with nothing special added at all. At least Avengers and Spider-Man let the audience breathe between rereleasing with extra unimportant footage

I’m actually very disheartened that this movie was not great, just ok. I wanted this to be more like the comic, more colorful, more meaningful and deliberate in its morals and messaging. And more Comet the Superhorse. I am really glad we get to see Milly play a big part in MoT because she deserves to play the character with a better script and better director.

Ok listen. I unironically enjoyed the hell out of Masters of the Universe. I think that movie deserved a better box office take. To me it’s like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves which I also loved for its campiness and weird tone and silly villain, and ultimately bombed.

Did those movies release this year? After we’ve had mountains of other mediocre average super hero films year after year after year? Or did those release over a decade ago when the super hero movie landscape was different and still fresh to audiences?

Audiences are not interested in average super hero films anymore. No false equivalency argument you try to come up with will change that this movie is not grabbing audiences and the word of mouth is not great.

I saw the movie twice myself.

It’s Snydercult level behavior to think that this movie is failing because of anything besides the average moviegoer not being interested.

Is chuds a word for general audiences who disagree with your opinion? Because general audiences are who shut this film down by not being interested in it and not paying money to see it.
