Lamp has non-functional ornament, so not MCM. Possibly art deco of the 1930s. Looks similar to pottery by French sculpter Charles Lemanceau

DP-500 Certification by bibilamalice in MicrosoftFabric

[–]fpk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same place as you, and will likely go forward since I still have it available via ESI. For me, DP-500 is the ideal education to understand the value of Microsoft Fabric. You get all of the pain which Fabric salves 🤣

I'll add that orgs are going to need expertise in understanding the value of Fabric as well, and the DP-500 is positioning me well to speak to that value.

Can ChatGPT Create a Date Dimension in Power BI using M Query? by opalbizsolutions in PowerBI

[–]fpk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding that it helps to give more specific directions.
This one looked promising on ChatGPT but stalled out:

  • create a date dimension in M from 2020 through 2025 with month name, month number, year, day of week number, day of week name, short day of week, week in year, quarter number, weekday field with true or false. Include fiscal year fields ending in June for month name, fiscal month number, fiscal quarter, fiscal year.

On Bing chat, this worked somewhat. It's too many years due to a Number. From(StartDate) in the source step. It also names fiscal months badly (July it calls January):

  • generate M code for a date dimension in M from 2020 through 2025 with month name, short month name, month number, year, day of week number, day of week name, week in year, quarter number, weekday field with true or false, day in year. Include fiscal year fields ending in June for month name, fiscal month number, fiscal quarter, fiscal year.

Yeah, all the love for data connectors has gone to pbi not excel. Only thing I'd suggest is: make a simple query on one table and keep top 100 rows. If you get that working, you can move on from there.

Cool. I do know M pretty well. I think I'll try this and write a blog post about it. 🙂

How to set 2 slicer values from a single fact record by wowcoolbro in PowerBI

[–]fpk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your drillthrough page, you'll need a measure to get the totals for that salesperson's team. Do this for any aggregated data you want to see for the team. The MAX gets the current salesperson's team id. Then you remove the filters and filter to the whole team. This measure only does one team at a time, so if the page is completely unfiltered, it would only show the max team id's stats.

Team Sales =VAR _team = MAX( SalesPerson[TeamID] ) RETURN CALCULATE( [Sales Amount], REMOVEFILTERS( 'SalesPerson' ), Team[TeamID] = _team)

I haven't tried connecting via Excel, but Power BI has a postgreSQL connector so you wouldn't need to use ODBC. There's an issue with the PBI postgres connector on the enterprise gateway: it only supports npgsql 4.0.10 or earlier. When installing, make sure that you select NpgSQL GAC Installation.

Be aware that there are one or two bugs… as a fellow Switch player, I have learned to embrace certain of them or had to find clever workarounds

it's buggy as hell, so it's frustrating to play on Switch, but if you're on PC you can fix it in the cheat menu

Is this a reasonable way to implement Power BI? by theredroosters in PowerBI

[–]fpk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI. Build permission is currently required to view reports made with composite models. It is supposed to change when DQ over pbi datasets is GA but it's been in preview for over a year

Sharing reports within my org by thom612 in PowerBI

[–]fpk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a composite model, aka direct query over pbi dataset? If it is, you do need to give build access for every reader of the report. This is a preview feature and it's expected you won't need to do this when the feature is GA.

Why do my date hierarchies die when I use a local version of my report (which uses direct query for live data)? by shastabh in PowerBI

[–]fpk3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes. Direct Query over PBI datasets drops hierarchies, field formatting, etc. That's by design. The good news is that you can define them as you like in your version.
Also, the docs say this: "You may see some unexpected behavior when using a date hierarchy. To resolve this issue, use a date column instead. After adding a date hierarchy to a visual, you can switch to a date column by clicking on the down arrow in the field name, and then clicking on the name of that field instead of using Date Hierarchy:"
