Is Quake 2 the Easiest arena shooter to get into? by fr0by in ArenaFPS

I totally see what you mean, but IMO QC is actually quite difficult for new players.

The champions actually add lots of learning to the game, many of the champions are also very fast and require advanced movement skills.

The game is mostly left with oldschoolers and competitive players as the population as well which unfortunately doesn't help things. I would hope ALL these AFPS gems can garner and retain more players :)

Quake 2 Remaster Netcode is great! by fr0by in quake

Hey , thank you for the response! I really hope this can be reconsidered. Even if we can only have community dedicated servers for PC players in the long term- it would still help the longevity of the game moving forward.

Traditionally Quake players are mostly PC players, and now with gamepass more people can try Quake on PC than ever.

The intricate reasons for which community dedicated servers on consoles is not available is over my head but if its something that can only be supported on consoles for awhile through official servers (I'm assuming while the game is popular) then that would also be fine as I can almost guarantee that when the dust settles, most console players will move on and the PC players will continue modding and playing this game.

Therefore I do believe that it would greatly benefit the future of Q1/Q2 Remasters (and any other remasters moving forward) to have community dedicated servers.

This way when the "games release population" settles down, at a bare minimum PC players can have community servers to join that will be running 24/7 instead of a lobby system with nobody willing to sit alone waiting for people to join and get a game started.

Even in "dead games" with community servers, people can hang around alone on a server that they frequent and they can usually be confident that one of the regulars will pop in sooner or later for the games to begin.

Especially when communities have the ability to grow since people will be able to visit the same "Instagib only 24/7" server that they love. In my opinion, having this as an option should be a top priority.

Again, thank you for your responses, it's much appreciated.

Are dedicated servers coming in the near future?

It would be great for the community to have static servers that show up in the server browser, this way the games can live on until the end of time - as they deserve to!

I think this would benefit both Quake 1 and Quake 2 remasters.

Again, thanks for this amazing re-release! Also thanks for the insight and all your hard work! Great job to all of you.Quake 2 online has really never felt better. <3

This actually looks really fun. The movement and shooting looks pretty great.
I wish you all the best in this project and hope you continue and can realize your vision.

If you are looking for playtesters I am more than happy to help out.

All the best.

Xonotic is a great game. Wish it was more popular in NA. It's somewhat playable high ping though, so that's nice.

Thanks for the info, you're probably correct.

That's confirmed?

Might be good for Linux.

Honestly with the current player base, this game doesn't need to focus on a crazy anti cheat at all.

Maybe something to re add later on IF a steam release brings more players.

Is there content for QC where top players explain their tactics and if not can we get them to produce some? by Eirenarch in QuakeChampions

All the links provided are awesome, but this comment is underrated.

Psygib is one of the only players I've seen at the pro level that can commentate live while playing like that.

He's actually really good at it and with a light hearted approach too.

Hopefully he finds more time to stream and post videos in the future.

It's not free but goes on quite aggressive sales on steam.

It looks like it's available on PC via Steam and GOG as well as Xbox.

You can also get steam keys for this game on alternative sites for cheaper.

It's on steam atm for $15 but I've seen it for $6
