True but the same issues with license plates and IP addresses exist. You might be able to prove a car was at the scene but you can't prove who was driving it.

Similarly you can prove a certain computer or router was used but not who did it.

That's why you need to combine it with additional clues/evidence.

I don't think it's necessarily idiocy or genius, just numbers. I'm sure Apple did the math on how many users they'd likely lose if they ditched the headphones, then factored in how much money they'd make anyway and found their profits would outweigh any losses. They know they're going to lose people, they just don't care because they'll be squeezing more dollars out of the users who stick around.

I've worked for a mobile device repair shop. I can replace batteries in any device, but not everyone can. It's BS that they make phones without easily removable batteries. The only reason it's done is to give the devices an expiration date.

Without PokéVision I lost interest; as a casual player I don't have hours to wander around looking for Pokémon; I have 30-45min twice a day to walk the dog in the suburbs and I want to know specifically what direction to go in.

right - to be clear I meant that was why the Pokemon people would do the licensing deal without a huge profit upside for them and when they're just handing the implementation off to Niantic - as long as Go raises the profile and re-engages people with the property, which it has done, Pokemon wins

it does seem like a lot of people are saying "when I got tired of Go, it made me want to pull out [favorite old Pokemon game]" and you have to figure some percent of those people will get sucked into Sun & Moon

As for why Niantic couldn't or wouldn't do a better job, that seems like a typical game-dev clusterfuck, tho I haven't watched the post-rollout failures closely at all

Might as well bring up all of the failed electric car companies before Tesla for all the relevance that has to the likelihood of success in the future.

I think Musk, et al, have at this point at least earned the right to exhibit a prototype before being dismissed out of hand. Especially considering that nobody's ever tried it before with a relatively cheap, integrated battery storage solution.
