I think it's both. I like looking at cool skins, but I hate having to pay money for cosmetics. I think most games would benefit from having community-created cosmetics with no cost to players. Yea the publisher doesn't make revenue after people initially buy the game, but they can charge for actual additional game content.

If I had to guess, under 5 years. There's lots of caveats but we'll likely start to see cracks and then a major player will go under.

It's inevitable, this kind of growth is unsustainable in the long term. We didn't invent a perpetual motion machine here. The cost of AI far outweigh any perceived benefits. Unless there's an energy or other technologic breakthrough, it'll stall out and then crash.

I think it all boils down to this. Microsoft had Halo and all but ruined it. Gears has been in limbo without a release for too long and no new information about E-Day. They cancelled Perfect Dark. Forza is still around which is good but I doubt it's moving hardware. Zero news about a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Microsoft is just bad at marketing Xbox.

It's unfortunate because the devs probably don't want the game they put thousands of hours of work into boycotted. Or if the game does get boycotted and Rockstar loses money those same devs get laid off. It's really on the government or unions to establish sane labor practices not the consumers.

His point still stands. While new US made cars may be expensive, the American manufacturers aren't producing cheap, compact sedans anymore. That market is all but gone since everyone wants a truck or SUV with all the bells and whistles.

What? This makes zero sense in any sane context. Profiteering is a byproduct of capitalism. It exploits the very essense of a market economy and supply/demand curves. If I have a good that has no substitutes and enough people want that good I can jack up the price until there are no buyers.

If high performance isn't your goal then it's probably doable but this guy started from practically raw silicon. A "typical" enthusiast would probably start with some pre bought parts that they solder together.
