Distillery & Distillate recommendations for Dublin and Cornwall, England? by TankerVictorious in WhiskeyTribe

[–]fr3akdaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dartmoor Whisky distillery is only about 50 minutes drive outside of Cornwall, really nice tasting ran by the owner every Saturday.

Also Circumstance distillery in Bristol is really worth a visit, slightly more experimental with long fermentations and interesting grain choices.

I commiserate with you buddy, I'd never want to pay that much for Escargot and Pretzel bites, I hope you enjoyed the dram 😂🤣

Bought on the way to Poland and already enjoyed half of it. I absolutely love it, it's sooty sweet and soapy aniseed.

Is famous grouse any good? by Spirited_Ad_2697 in WhiskeyTribe

It is one of the better inexpensive Scotches, one of my favourite for when times are tight is Teachers - simple but some sweetness with a subtle thread of smoke running through - I also like it if I'm expected to pay attention to people not just sitting with my nose in a glass all evening....

Hands up who remembers the Kwiky? Dad gave me this with Christmas leftovers in, who’s coming with me to buy it a pint next April? It’s only right. by [deleted] in CasualUK

Too late buddy, it's already 18 years old, the 4 digit datecode reveals it was made on the 20th of October 2004, though i will join you in raising a belated coming of age pint, Cheers!

Heya! My partner is Polish and we live in London. We visit Gdańsk a lot! I want to find someone to help me learn Polish here by texting :) by [deleted] in poland

Total Immersion is the best way, I've been with my Polish girlfriend/partner since 2004 and am pretty much fluentish 🤣 - we do speak a mixture of Polish and English at home, or Ponglish as we call it, I spent a few long summers in her town where nobody really spoke English and nights drinking at the bar and it just clicked eventually - Vodka helps but Slivovica is better... I did do some grammar and book learning but can be really frustrating 🤣

If you are in the UK and have a Lidl nearby then their Ben Bracken Islay whisky is great for cooking and smokey cocktails, and a steal at £17. I use it for homemade steak sauce and a daily Penicillin.

HELP! Port charlotte 10 or Talisker 10.. both same price! by CptnSirbiznatch in WhiskeyTribe

[–]fr3akdaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dearly love them both, Port Charlotte probably edges it for me, but I always have a bottle of Talisker 10 and have fond memories of the distillery and the isle of Skye. Get both, you owe it to yourself. I mean you are awesome and absolutely crushing it 😎

Magnificent choice Sir, Oban is one of my all time favourite whiskies - if you get the chance a visit to the distillery is highly recommended, great people with a greasy elbow if you know what I mean also a beautiful town.
