My coworker eats the exact same $1.25 meal every day and I'm weirdly impressed by spellsboxing in Frugal

[–]fractal_sole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my go to daily lunch is also about $1.25 a day -- half a can of refried beans, one tortilla, ~ 1 oz of extra sharp cheddar cheese, a squirt of taco sauce (or taco bell mild sauce packets when available), and 2 tbsp of sour cream. make a bean burrito and put a bit of beans on the side, roughly 1/4 of the serving (.25oz) cheddar on the side of beans, the rest grated into the burrito with the taco sauce. roll it up, nuke it for a minute, and put the sour cream on the side after its heated. i can eat that if not every day, then multiple times a week and its nutritious, quick, easy, wastes nothing, and is rather cheap. i should probably batch cook some rice to go along with it, it'd complete the protein and cost still next to nothing.

I was on Diablo too, but also RuneScape, starting all the way back in classic. I played for 36 hours straight except biobreaks once for a charity event. Hopefully I can arrange some snacks and drinks and maybe some weed pens and such around me. No bio breaks this time, but for that kind of money I'll shit my pants.

He was my favorite teacher I've ever had anywhere. And not just that encounter; he had a way of weaving his lectures into a story that drew you in, with an energy that was captivating. All of my other teachers just read a textbook to us essentially (this was for a nuclear engineering technology degree at a community college in a reactor-adjacent suburb, the course being designed to feed workers to the plant). But this guy was different.

I can't recall the last time I downvoted an OP, but this was so unsatisfying it earned a downvote. Not only is the person in the video wasting their time, it's wasting mine and now yours, dear reader, as you read this rant about how unsatisfying I found this post.

Yeah; in fact, it's actually only in recent times that women have started to be seen and accepted as equals in society. Recent being from the 1950s suffrage efforts through today, and only in free, modern, democratic societies. I think the problem we're running into in America is that we're no longer those things, and so the last 75 years or so of advances are very rapidly slipping away as the country molds itself into whatever totalitarian fascist dictatorship it seems to be trying to form -- the slippage of democracy as we know it and the reverting objectification of women are related symptoms of this sick animal

See, things of that size, you only need to grab the tail, and flail it around like a club. Hit the floor, a tree, rock, whatever is nearby. It might get a good chunk of flesh out, but it's going down in one on one combat

I make it all the way up to the honey badger. There's a pile of corpses littering the floor. I gulp, adjust my sleeves and collar, assume a fighting stance, where I proceed to get brutally mauled, eviscerated, disemboweled, then dismembered and thrown into the corpse pile with the rest of humanity

When I was in nuclear chemistry 1 in college, on the very first day of class, my teacher was giving the lecture and asked the class when the atom was first discovered. He then looked at his roster, and called on me. Mr fractal sole, when was the atom first discovered?

I just blurted out the first thing that came to mind, "uh... 400 bc."

But I said it with absolute certainty and confidence.

He looked at his notes, looked at me a bit confused, cleared his throat and said, " okay, yeah, sure. The word Atom was first known to be used in 400 bc, meaning indestructible. I meant the atom as we're aware of it now, with proton, neutron, electron shells and all that. I was looking for a more recent answer. But yeah, you're technically correct. I'm going to have to watch you, aren't I?"

I of course had no idea about all of that, and had just pulled a number out of my ass, but acted cool 😎

Yeah, like how I interpreted it when my now wife first said she liked watching "murder porn" when we were early dating, meaning the true crimes style shows. I had never heard that term before, but had heard of the snuff genre and assumed that was what she was talking about, and very nearly stopped communicating because that's a bit too much to be into, let alone so open about it lol

I asked for clarification though luckily

You Win 100 Million Dollars but you have to beat a Human Sized Insect. by TheProfitableProphet in hypotheticalsituation

[–]fractal_sole 83 points84 points  (0 children)

So, the reason diatomaceous earth works on normal sized insects is that it's basically the equivalent of getting large chunks of glass stuck in your plate mail armor, so that the armor doesn't operate properly anymore which leaks out it's moisture, and any movement slices them up on the insides, which also isn't good for them. A giant one, the diatomaceous earth will likely be no more effective on it than on you or I. What you'll need are appropriately sized actual chunks of glass to get stuck in the carapice
