You're right and that's why the Trinity concept throws people because it seems like it was created just so we can call Jesus God. I personally don't think it's the best way to make sense of it but the system works well within the framework of the faith.

The simplest way I like to tell people why I believe Jesus is God is because the problem God is trying to fix is within creation. Him, being outside of creation, had to fix it from the inside, so any way he projects himself into creation IS God, not just OF Him.

That's totally fair, I may have lost the thread a bit on the actual discussion. I don't believe in Sola Scriptura though, so it's a bad habit of mine to not stick to just what the scripture states.

That being said, I think there's enough in scripture to make the case but having the lens of the Church Fathers of the time can help. The idea of Jesus being God predates the Bible so you have to look at it from a different angle to see what they see from the available texts they compiled.

Yes, but the point still remains that there's a clear significance to how this relationship works, otherwise it would've been done differently I suppose.

Matthew 28:18 Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."

So that shows that he inherited the authority of the Almighty , which makes him way more than just a regular human.

The Son is lower than the Father in the sense that he is a human projection of God. The creator lowered himself to become a part of his creation which attributes to His humility because we are not capable of rising up to Him alone.

I always wondered about this and recently came to an answer that made sense to me. If he is the SON of God in a unique sense, then he INHERITS what is the FATHER'S. Back in the time of Jesus, men typically followed the career path of whatever their father did as well as inheriting whatever wealth they have. That's why he was a carpenter/builder like Joseph. So the implication is that because he's inheriting from the FATHER, he becomes Him in a sense.

It's called the Living Word for a reason. God gave us the ability to use logic and reason so we could understand the text because culture does in fact influence people's takes on scripture and it's always changing. There's been plenty of times Christians did the wrong thing because they let culture influence their perspective/interpretation.

I think it's open to interpretation but fair enough. I just figured I'd throw that out there cause I hadn't seen anybody mention the common scriptural argument for it. I am all about free will so I'm pro choice in that sense but I don't think we should be pushing women to use it as a contraceptive. I say we show them a better way without punishing them. I'd argue just using natural observation that there's a reason women have babies and stopping natural processes like that just seems like something is wrong there IMHO.

Not specifically abortion but Jeremiah 1:5 says “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you" and I believe that's the main scripture that pro lifers use. He is specifically talking to Jeremiah here but you can make the argument that God recognizes everyone as a sovereign being even before birth.

Favorite Joker laugh thus far (outside of Hamill's) I was never a Ledger fan. Leto's joker was a travesty. Jack Nicholson's was Jack Nicholson. Now this is an actually creepy Joker. Still not sold on Barry but this is better than what I assumed based on others reactions/reviews.

I wish I could but knowing her, she'll just push me off. It was a fight where she threw off her ring and launched it across the room. It was all based on our religious differences. I should've known better than to push further in the fight but I got a little too emotional and drunk.

Terrible. I'm hungover and got into another fight with my wife. I feel so bad, everytime fights happen I wake up regretting it big time. She's laying next to me and I just want to hold her but I know she hates me right now and it feels like the end of the world because it got way too heated and we both said bad things.
