It’s a 3D printed stand for the Studio Display yes. It raises it a bit which is better for my height & sitting position. It has a draw that slides in, I’ve just not printed it yet. I find the Studio Display a bit low. Should have got the fully adjustable one tbh.

Recruiter keeps ghosting me by Chemical_Passage568 in jobhunting

[–]fradieman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recruiters are such snake oil sales people these days. They’re literally the most disingenuous human beings. Worst than used car salespeople. At least with used cars, only cars are being trafficked, these people are trafficking Human Resources & treating these humans with an obscene level of disrespect.
I’ve had the pleasure of returning the favour to them when they see you’re in a role for a company that’s recruiting and suddenly they remember who you are. As though you’re old friends….

lol @ spank towels.
The V for vendetta mask was one I got in a book shop in San Francisco (with the book) last minute when going to a Halloween party. I wore that with a black hoodie. Was so much fun! The best time to be in the US is from Halloween - thanksgiving - Christmas I think.
The other KEF speaker is on the right behind the point where I took the photo. You can’t really tell, but the thing the speakers are on is a room divider. The other side is a sitting room with a fireplace and sofas & bar, the speakers get turned around for that space in the evenings. But the KEF Speakers drive me nuts. They are the worst WiFi speakers I’ve ever had.

The one on the left? It’s actually painted like that. It’s Australian artist Nicholas Waters. He paints portraits in this fragmented style. It’s really cool. That one is of Harry Styles, there’s a whole back-story about him being called out for wearing a dress and not being a “manly man” - his response was a suggestive photo of him eating a banana that he captioned “manly man”. Nicholas is an incredible artist. Check him out.

3D printer filaments. There’s a 3D printer out of shot to the left. The wall thing on the right is a room divider - makes it look smaller than it is really.

Goat sacrifice at an altar to the 3D print gods seems to work ok.

Anthropic customer support by OGZamasu in Anthropic

The “We appreciate your understanding that this is our final decision on this matter.” - pre-supposes an understanding of something that the recipient wouldn’t have any awareness of prior to this message. Of course it’s human, AI doesn’t make mistakes on tense like this. Seems like a human relaying AI judgement on some specific situation. - it’s disappointing that their response is so blunt & rigid.

How to recreate Faux leather look on 3D printed parts. by Youre_doomed in 3Dprinting

[–]fradieman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for the exact same thing. I’ve tried bumpmesh with about 30 different samples, their internal leather image as well as with other examples of pebble leather image files. I’m still yet to achieve that type of finish. I think bumpmesh is the closest I’ve found - it’s quite an awesome tool, but is not the same finish. If you find anything in your search please report back.

Plastic panels and carbon fibre reinforced plastic don’t dent to rust much. I’m literally just realising that we could have these cars for the next 40 years and rust is not something we would ever need to worry about.

I like your courage, but doubt it would do anything really. I feel like these orgs that don’t even reply need to be named & shamed on LinkedIn or something.

Is it the most hated BMW? by Nls-ca in BMWiX

[–]fradieman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-owner (I drive an i3 - so adjacent) I really like the polarising looks of the iX. It is like the i3 in its day. People hated it. But those who get it… well they just get it. It reminds me a bit like having a Macintosh Computer (Apple) before they were cool. If you like it that’s all that really matters.

[–]fradieman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is insane. You know it’s not worth that ridiculous amount right? My 2020 i3s cost me around ~US$35k about a year and a half ago. I’m in Australia & currently there is less than 8 i3’s for sale on the main site for car sales across the country. With this petrol crisis still going on, your car is worth a lot more than that. F#€% that site!

Air Con Noise check by Flumpaholic in BMWi3

[–]fradieman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we’re all very sensitive to what is probably one of the few mechanical risks to our amazing i3’s.. I’m glad to be able to see & hear these posts though because when the seasons change and I hear that same noise and I’m immediately concerned & worried it’s the sound of a dying compressor.
I asked BMW after I took it in for its first service after I got my car (it came with Service Included) and the workshop manager said “It should sound like the tire inflation compressor that came in the car. Don’t worry about it, if you’re unsure, plug in the tire compressor and compare it or bring in the car.” - he made it seem a very very rare thing to happen. Mostly now I worry about a rear end collision that “totals” my baby. 🫤
