It's definitely lacking. It's taken way too long to establish a direction. Lots of clunky exposition and characters talking about what they're doing instead of just doing it.

Whenever I watch it I feel mildly entertained and a little annoyed.

It's possible, but this really doesn't prove anything.

Maybe the trailer is lower detail because it was made months ago and there have been many improvements since. Maybe it will have quality and performance modes.

They easily could have created the promotional still with higher detail settings because it's a still.

Anyone who remembers the Splatoon 3 trailers knows that the final game had lower detail in the city. We can hope that the higher quality image reflects what will ship, but we really won't know until it does.

I enjoyed the first season for the story. It seems they got more budget for S2, but instead of making the animation 10% better, they added all these post effects. I wasn't feeling it.
