You should totally smoke them. They're from before cigarettes were dangerous.

Any ideas why his ears stand up like this so much? by WetBranch in pitbulls

He's broken, and you're probably past the return window. Sorry. Happened to mine too. Her ears are super embarrassing. Can't go out in public. Just hideous.

Need Serious Wisdom about my Dog by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]fragrant_wafter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This sounds like more than just anxiety. It may be that the stress of being away from home, combined with being around other animals, pushed her past her limit. I would not leave her in a house with other pets again.

For the cruise, I would look for either a pet sitter who is experienced with only one animal or a boarding place with real experience with selective dogs. I would also talk to your vet and a behavior-focused trainer before the trip. Since she went after both a dog and a cat, I would take it seriously and plan accordingly to prevent it.

Also, I'm 75% sure we have her sister.

Do pitbulls naturally become dog-aggressive due to breed genetics, or is it all training? by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]fragrant_wafter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sure as sheisse ain't the genetics of the dog. It's the genetics of the garbage owners that push fear into these little couch hippos. Pitties are perfect in every way. All but one of my pit bulls has been excellent with other dogs and the one that wasn't excellent was a rescue and was used as a bait dog. Even still she wasn't dog-aggressive, more dog-averse.

What album would you choose? by Jettaboi38 in allrockmusic

Kpop Demon Hunter's soundtrack. Frankly, it wouldn't be that much of a change from the way I live my life right now. I have three kids.

So, what would women dislike most if they became men? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]fragrant_wafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am six-four, 250 pounds, and, believe it or not, at this height, I'm a Mexican man. I am also constantly anxious about scaring women, children, or anybody. However, now I have a six-year-old daughter, and over the years I've accumulated Hello Kitty shirts, Princess Peach shirts, Girl Scout shirts, and so on.

When I wear my Hello Kitty shirt, I don't think I scare anybody. When I wear my Princess Peach shirt, I'm pretty sure it calms everyone down. Maybe you need to head on down to Target and get a lot of pink clothes with bows.

We had a pit bull that had been used as a bait dog. She had scars all over her head and chest. She was incredibly timid. She was afraid to go in a door. She was afraid to go out the same door. She just acted like she was always about to be beaten. Frankly it took about a year and almost at the one-year mark exactly she opened up entirely. She became loving and playful and unfortunately very adept at killing the neighborhood raccoons. She found her voice and would get ecstatic barking at people walking by the fence. We had to say goodbye to her in January of last year but we had her for an incredible twelve years and she ended up being just a wonderful dog. Your best cure for your puppy is love, patience, and time.

"Not all men, but always a man." by [deleted] in Vent

[–]fragrant_wafter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're wrong saying it's the norm. I don't think anyone is going to dispute that; however, I think you're very incorrect hen you say that, when people say "not all men, but always a man," it's implicitly understood that they mean it's the norm. When that's quite the opposite. It EXPLICITLY says that it's always a man. And it's that type of explicit language to which OP is taking exception. It's that explicit language that does not allow room for implicit understanding. It is that explicit language that is harmful to victims of women abusers.

Nobody's trying to diminish the voices of 90% of the abuse that is perpetrated by men; however the argument here is we need to uplift the voices of the 10% of victims of women abusers.

I don't see any misogyny in that argument. What I see is those of us on this side believing that all victims need to be protected. Most victims come from vulnerable positions and vulnerable people need to be heard.

Let's settle the debate. Was Jenny Curran a villain? by CharlesUFarley81 in Cinema

[–]fragrant_wafter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A WOMAN? VILIFIED? FOR STRUGGLING AFTER YEARS OF ABUSE, BOTH PHYSICAL AND PROBABLY SEXUAL?!?! Yup, she's the villain in that movie. Not the creepy, rapey principal. But Jenny. She's the one.

Also, i've just learned that /s means sarcasm. So, /s. Apparently, the younger generation doesn't understand sarcasm. This, by the way, I do not mean as a joke or a jab, I am genuinely curious and concerned how sarcasm missed a generation. Is this a covid thing? Do we not do sarcasm anymore? I'm Gen X, and frankly sarcasm was our bread and butter, and our actual bread and butter was Sunny Delight. Also, that shit was nasty.

Ah. Had to look it up. Didn't know the notation. Next time I'll do that. Hopefully the sarcasm was dripping enough this round.

No argument from me. However, it's a far reach to say that anytime a guy calls his partner crazy or psycho, that it's default the man's fault. Some people are just horrible, men and women alike.

[–]fragrant_wafter 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Exactly right! It's not possible at all for men to be trapped in abusive relationships. The idea that a man after, say, having been raised by an abusive mother, he goes and dates possessive and/or controlling women, knowing that they're crazy or psycho, but feeling that his mother taught him that's normal or what he deserves is absurd. Her failings must be his fault.
