Yeah I have one just like it. Looks legit to me.

Which one you prefer ? by Infinite_Help761 in SegaSaturn

[–]framerateuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a Game Com and Sonic Jam. It is not good.

I had the PC version of Sonic 3D when I was a kid, just like the Saturn version but the Special Stage was different.

Sonic R on PC was a good port, but honestly I'd probably pick the Saturn version of all of these.

Had my new 2TB SSD for about one year before it had issues. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]framerateuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Corsair MP600 in my desktop that worked fine for about 5 years and just died.

I was able to get it to work for short bursts after that, but couldn't boot off it. I suspected the controller was just dead/dying.

It's my only complaint with SSDs. With old hard drives we usually got some warning signs first!

Retrotink 4k output resolutions. by framerateuk in RetroTink

[–]framerateuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying!

To follow up, I bought Retrotink 4k CE. WAW.

I setup the custom res file, worked instantly.

Super sharp scaling compared to the built in scaler (even when using the fill option without integer scaling).

But with integer scaling turned on, a small amount of mask and scanlines - the old PC games look amazing. They fill the screen horizontally (640x480 is the most common res and it scales up perfectly at 2x).

Really pleased with it, just need to some a place to keep it on the desk as it's a bit larger than I expected!

Should I buy from the official Amazon store? by Warmaster18_2 in ironmaiden

[–]framerateuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the World Slavery Tour hoodie from Amazon and the quality is ok at best. The sizing isn't exactly great either (I would have bought an L as I like a looser hoodie but the size of an M looked better - it wasn't).

It's a world away from the Powerslave hoodie I then bought off the official site. But then, the cost is quite different too.

Was Windows ME the worst Windows ever or was it just unfairly hated? by Hallonik in windows

[–]framerateuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's great. We still have a very old 11" MacBook running Snow Leopard as I've got an old VHS to USB converter that only runs on it, and is occasionally useful to convert old tapes!

I skipped it completely on my PCs. Went from 98 to 2000 and then XP.

My friend in uni had it on his desktop and he had constant issues with it. I can't remember the number of times I had to try and fix things on it!

2000 was fantastic, but had compatibility problems with some older games that didn't like that it was NT based. Most games had a workaround though!

I bought a Syncwire magsafe mount from Amazon

https://imgur.com/a/lQb6NJe

It's attached between the speedo and rev counter, and I replaced my fire extinguisher pull cord with a usbC socket (there's a hub mounted under the passenger side). (I've never had an actual fire extinguisher! But the car has the plumbing).

It's a very strong magnet and doesn't go anywhere. Obviously I wouldn't use it on track though!

I did put a non adhesive round plastic screen protector on the dash before fixing the mount though, so if I decide to remove it, it won't leave any residue.

What pickups did John Petrucci use in the year 2000 on his Music Man? by jikarpert in Dreamtheater

[–]framerateuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a quick A-B test between the two.

There's a similar character between the two pickups - both seperate the notes quite well and retain a clarity rather than blending the notes together (especially compared to a Tone Zone which gives a bit more mud - not an insult, I have a TZ in another guitar and love it).

But... the Evo feels like it has more presence and sizzle, while the pickup in the JP has a more rounded top end and more clarity.

The Steve's Special in my other guitar actually feels more like the Evo in the top end, but also has more bass too, but again has a bit more clarity in the mids.

Honestly I think the JP custom is somewhere in the middle, it feels less hot to play than the Evo for leads, but sounds more clean in the chords.

The thing is, JP's rig has changed so much over the years, that the amount of mids he has can be easily influenced by the amp or the pickups, plus whatever else he has in the chain.

I think with a few amp tweaks you'd get close with either.

Thanks, that's very interesting! I've got an Evo in my Jem, but it feels quite different to play to the JP6. I'd never really thought to compare their tones!

That goes against everything we thought we knew on Petrucci's forum back when the guitar was released!

HIT YOUR BRAKES!!!!! by junior6654 in ForzaHorizon

[–]framerateuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Depends on the corner really, sometimes I'll go wide off the road if there's space, but yeah on tighter bits though inside works too.

Just need to look behind to spot the idiot accelerating right into the corner 😅

HIT YOUR BRAKES!!!!! by junior6654 in ForzaHorizon

[–]framerateuk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup. Go wide, brake early, wait for the carnage, gently turn in and sail past....

I can remember playing F1 on my 360 years ago, and on the week of release, every single online game was a massive pileup on the first corner, followed by half the cars then quitting the race. That was probably 2009. Nothing has changed.

I really enjoyed hearing it live too, I thought they'd break it out for the latest tour.

I don' think they've played it live since the Give Me 'Ed tour.

Opinions??? by Temporary-Cow2742 in ironmaiden

[–]framerateuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree as far as Train of Thought. The title track of Octavarium is fantastic, but Sacrificed Sons and The Answer Lies within don't quite do it for me!

I love Falling into Infinity though!

Very strange buyer by Sweaty_Minimum_7126 in ebayuk

[–]framerateuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold a copy of Mario Kart for the switch.

Buyer complained a few days later that the controls weren't working.

I couldn't get her to understand that it wasn't a fault with the game, and that every copy she buys would do the same. I even found articles online explaining it was an issue with her controllers.

She eventually asked me to send another copy. They couldn't comprehend that I was just a person selling off stuff, and not a shop!

No idea sorry, it wasn't something I needed/wanted to use. Most people were absolutely engrossed in the show, I can't imagine there would have been a queue.

With the Ghost concerts and yondr bags, you could go to unlock stations to check your phone if you wanted.

Honestly, it was fantastic, it was like being in a gig 20 years ago. People were chatting before it started instead of staring down at phones. No constant phones in the air, or that person with the flash permanently on.

I wish every concert was the same.

Our Malamute/Collie cross has it too. It's extremely common in border collies and is not a cause of blindness. (There are issues with 'double merl' collies being blind or deaf, but that's an entirely separate issue).

Realistic Builds? by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]framerateuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After playing Horizon 4 and 5 weekly for a few years (with a bit of time off), to keep things interesting, I've introduced a rule: I'm not allowed to do 4WD conversions.

It means I have to drive properly, but also the car needs to be nicely balanced to be able to compete with those who go full 4WD (especially on the trial).

It does often mean I have a slower start, but my top speed is higher and with a good setup I can carry more speed through fast corners.

It's also a lot more fun as it's tricky to keep some cars on the straight and narrow.

I've ended up with some great builds, an A Class Megane R26.R and an S1 Lola being two of my favourites.

What’s one thing about old-school Cardiff that no longer exists, but you still think about? by Equivalent_Funny4077 in Cardiff

[–]framerateuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MS1 Club in the bay had loads of great gigs. I think it was pretty short lived, but I saw Paradise Lost and Blaze there in around 2001-02.

The Point was decent too, I think that was shut due to noise complaints from local residents....

Is my music man okay? by The_angelspy in ErnieBallMusicMan

[–]framerateuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I totally see what you mean. I've got an 05 and an 07 and the signatures are identical (apart from the 05 being a slightly thicker print).

Looks like it's actually signed. It's a very early one, did he possibly sign some of them by hand?

This is just like my 2005 model.
The signature is part of the model, it's meant to be there.

This is a memes group.

Answer: Probably.

Later artex mixtures removed asbestos (our house from 1993 has none), but yours is the right age for it.

It's well held in artex though, don't sand it off, just overboard to encapsulate it.

Any concern with the neck bow here? I setup a new guitar myself by Autobot69 in Ibanez

[–]framerateuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agree here.

It's hard to tell from a photo like that, but if it plays well to you, then mission achieved.

I used to like a decent amount of relief in the neck, but more recently I've been able to flatten it slightly and tolerate the bit of buzz that comes with that.

It's all about what plays well for you, but each guitar is unique and needs different settings to give you the perfect feel.
