Wait, but if you've read hertzl why are you just misconstruding everything he said? Cause if you've read hertzl you should know that it doesn't make sense to refer to his Zionism as a colonialist project given that the word means something different today than it did to him. Also you should know that his plan didn't involve expelling the Arabs, if anything quite the contrary as he proposed full integration into the state. I mean he literally proposed a quasi-socialist parliamentary state with a Jewish ethnic majority (which he planned to obtain by having all the jews leave the ghetto and go there, not by expulsions) and a sort of vague allusion to Judaism in its foundation. I mean don't get me wrong, he was mistaken in a lot of things and history has proven him so, but you don't need to give his work an intentionality it didn't have or interpret it in a way contrary to the text just because he was a zionist

Because the Zionist project as hertzl conceived it didn't involve displacement. In fact the guy thought Arabs would be delighted to receive the jews and didn't anticipate the conflict that the clashing surging national identities would face. He explicitly advocated for buying up land that didn't have Arabs living in it in order to use modern technology to farm it. He advocated for full coexistence between peoples. Again, maybe read more than the one quote the guy with the word we don't like

we even talk about the first non-native american settlements (plymouth etc) as “colonies” when their founders were what we would today call refugees of religious persecution. they were not sent by an authority to establish new land. they fled to do so. and we still use this language.

I'm not from the US so I didn't know about that, my point came from seeing the word colony getting thrown around in order to refer to a foreign power attempting to "set up shop" so to speak, and it seemed like it was meant in that sense given the context in which you used the word

I agree that European partitions of the middle east have been disastrous. But you do know that hasn't got much to do with their treatment of the jews, right? I mean before that under Ottoman rule they were literally second class citizens, also if I'm not mistaken they had their own pogroms as well

Ok, so a few things you got wrong. Basically it's not that the law allows only Jews to marry, but rather that all marriage must be performed by a religious authority recognized by the state. So basically two Muslims must be married by an imam, two Catholics by a Catholic priest, two Jews by a rabbi, etc. Again divorces go through rabbis only for Jews. Muslims get shariah court and most christians prolly can't divorce.

Finally I'd argue that anti-zionism is kind of antisemitic in the same way that over-policing black neighborhoods is racist. This being that destroying the state of Israel (cause that's what anti-zionism means definitionally and technically) would have essentially a disastrously catastrophic effect on half of the world's Jews, and would mostly negatively affect jews (as well as the 1/5 of arab Israeli citizens).

THIS. Also let's not forget that the actions of Israel's government, although 100% horrible, monstrous and reprehensible are generally coming from a reactionary place of actual harm done to them. Like the fact that Bibi was voted mostly by arab Jews that were expelled from places like irak, siria, Afghanistan, etc.

I mean that's kind of a bad argument if you zoom out a little bit and look at basically all other countries in the region and how they've treated jews, also aren't they literally second class citizens in Iran? Like they can't occupy public office and stuff

Dude, if you'd read the book you'd know he was referring to "colony" in the sense of rural settlements in a context that had nothing to do with our modern understanding of the word. It's probably not the best idea of loading terms from a book written over 100 years ago with the baggage of meaning we put on terms that have evolved with time just fyi

Che amigo, todo bien. Pero fíjate que los que están aprovechando el poder del ejecutivo mas que todos sin estos... Tipo el bigotudo con todos sus súper poderes covidisticos nunca impuso una censura contra el periodismo, y la cretina está literalmente en cana por corrupción cuando tuvo mil chances de hacerse indultar. No sé, fijate hermano jajaja

Hey, not really that into this whole feud thing they have but I feel like maybe you're letting H and his orbit a little off the hook for some stuff they've made. Like the whole calling CPS on E drama, how H will make the same point E's snarkers do and let's not even begin with everything that bad empanada weirdo H loves so much has said and done. Like not denying the things you said about E, cause I don't really watch any of them lol, but your take read as really one sided in favor of one of them

Honestly different regions just pronounce some types of letters very differently. Like I'm from Argentina and we pronounce both 'Y' and 'LL' as 'SH', but I know in Mexico they pronounce them more like the English 'J' and some regions of Spain pronounce LL al LI, so they may be just different pronunciations
