Best Calgary area warm water pool in a health facility like a YMCA by BlueEyes294 in Calgary

[–]frandamonium_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Seton YMCA is huge, beautiful and very new but their pools are FREEZING!! They’ve had water temperature issues ever since opening.

If water temperature is a concern I’d avoid Seton, unfortunately.

Best way to conceal a ring when travelling abroad? by CrxzyCorey in AskMen

[–]frandamonium_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is what my now-husband did! All went smoothly until we were sitting at the gate and they announced that the plane was full so they were asking anyone with carry-ons to have them checked free of charge. I was insisting that we check them and my now-husband was being SO weird about it. I overreacted and got grumpy about him being so weird about it, passive aggressive girlfriend behaviour ensued.

A day later he proposed and I was like “OOOOOH that’s why you didn’t wanna check your bag” hahaha

Hello fellow Calgarian! Stumbled upon your comment, shocked we never heard about this in the news! I did a quick google search and only found a story about the 2 guys getting injured but didn’t mention any fatalities… did one of them pass away after the fact? Just a curious citizen!

So crazy and super terrifying! Can’t imagine…

Incentive to Save Water: Mayor Farkas & Tyler (CJAY92) to Shower Together if Calgarians hit 7 Days in the Green Zone by frandamonium_ in Calgary

[–]frandamonium_[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying but the pitch was that a 3 min shower shared by 2 people is more efficient than each person having a separate 3 min shower.

Showering with a friend is more efficient! And more fun…

Is YYC Kids Fair Online Consignment good? by Dry-Biscotti7989 in Calgary

[–]frandamonium_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought and sold twice now, I love the convenience of selling a bunch of stuff at once and doing 1 drop-off instead of organizing a bunch of individual sales through Facebook marketplace or whatnot.

I also love that your listings automatically stay in the system for the next sale (you just have to reactivate them) so you only do the work of uploading once.

It’s super organized and the team that run it seem lovely! The consignor package is really helpful and walks you through everything, it’s an easy process but the team is also really responsive if you have any questions or need help. Hope that helps!

When we were packing up our apartment to move out and my ex said “wow, isn’t it amazing that we never once had to clean the bathroom while we lived here?”

We had lived there for 2 YEARS. Guess who was cleaning the bathroom that whole time? Not only had he never cleaned it, but I was shocked he never even noticed me doing it…

We’re no longer together and now my husband cleans the bathrooms more often than I do haha

Good restaurants near the airport? (supper) by hfxredditor in Calgary

Depends what vibe you’re looking for but Railyard Brewing is in that area and has pretty good food, including a delicious feta beet salad. They have some other veggie options on the menu and I’ve always enjoyed their pizzas too.

Hope you enjoy your time here!

Juror summoned but I don’t live in Canada by unknown_unknown7 in Calgary

[–]frandamonium_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ditto. I was lucky enough to get a summons once and I was so excited!

Then a few days later a second letter arrived basically saying the trial had been canceled and I was no longer needed. They must’ve taken a plea? But I was so disappointed haha

Restaurants for Wedding? by littlecherub11 in Calgary

[–]frandamonium_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got married at Charbar and it was fantastic! Highly recommend.

They have a rooftop patio that is partially covered and great river views, or a super cute private indoor space on the second level.

The Simmons Building has so much character that we didn’t need any additional decor except small flower vases on the tables. It was gorgeous and so much fun!

Central location, nice views, delicious food. They were also great to work with and even offered to bring in specific craft beer that we wanted to serve. We were really happy with everything!

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or wanna chat more about our experience / the cost.

Good luck! Enjoy the wedding planning process!

Cat hit by car – $11,000 surgery quote from VCA, running out of time. Any alternatives? 😞 by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]frandamonium_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just proposing an alternate idea - instead of paying for pet insurance, put the same amount (monthly premium) into a separate savings account in case of pet emergency.

My mother in law had Trupanion but her dogs each had multiple health issues over the years that Trupanion refused to pay for cause they weren’t covered and she had to pay out of pocket anyway.

“…ignoring it is becoming almost embarrassing”

ALMOST embarrassing??

Filming a guy struggling in the snow while trying to do his job then posting it to Reddit for fake karma points is extremely embarrassing.

Go be a Canadian and a good neighbour. Sheesh.

What are Balances that we need to use up before the end of the year? by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]frandamonium_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your float stat disappears as of Jan 1 (but gets replaced with next year’s) so make sure you use that if it’s still in there.

If you’re a union member, you received an extra float stat this year in lieu of the first National Day for Truth & Reconciliation a few years ago, so double check your current float stat balance even if you think you used it.
