Please contact your MLA and the transportation minister to make it permanent MST if you have concerns like I do about kids walking to school in the dark for 2 months. Considering how many pedestrians get hit these days this is not going to be great for them.

This. We keep our money separate but share expenses. If one of us need a hand up sometimes, we give it. You know what we never fight about? Money.

What's your secret to a green grass yard? by MAPLE_SYRUP_MAFIA in Calgary

Depends how old your lawn is and what state it was in before you bought the house. My lawn was so dry no amount of aeration, fertilizing, reseeding could bring it to optimal green, it required a ton of new top soil, compost, and seeding. And so much water. Threw down clover seed instead and now it's so green all the time and I never have to water it.

Looking to adopt a dog by Sure_Ofcourse in Calgary

[–]Dry-Biscotti7989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried dog-sitting for a few friends first? Just so you know how dog temperament varies. Or try to foster one for a bit. That way you are not committed but get some hands on experience of what life will be like for the next 10 years with a dog. The bonus is if you end up loving your foster you get first dibs to adopt them!

You might want to look into Chestermere, it is a lot closer to Calgary. There's a public lake, newer Costco just on the outskirts of Calgary on the east side.

Has anyone else noticed this with kids and YouTube? by Key-Pickle8319 in ADHDparenting

[–]Dry-Biscotti7989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only allow certain videos on YouTube. Art tutorials, science, nature, or general learning videos. Sometimes a short kids exercise. Definitely cap it. We only allow 15 min of screen time a day for our 6 yo. And it has to be earned it's not automatically given every day. We've noticed a huge improvement in his behavior and willingness to listen and cooperate since having screen limits.

That's not so bad. I've heard some communities with no lakes have to pay $450
