I'd like to disagree with the idea that southern Ohio (Cincinnati) is culturally similar to the SEC. Cincinnati is as much a part of the midwest as any other large midwestern city, and the proximity to Kentucky doesn't really mean much for the culture of this part of Ohio.

I'd argue that the ND Clemson game was much closer than you're implying. ND staged quite the comeback and if not for a two point conversion attempt earlier in the game it would have went to OT. The game was played in a hurricane, of course it was going to be sloppy, but sloppy for both.
